Target Honeyfund

Alexandra, on May 4, 2018 at 4:13 PM Posted in Registry 0 6
Has anyone used Honeyfund via Target?

I'm curious what the process is like, if you cash out with the gift card option (that doesn't charge) as a opposed to the direct deposit option (that does charge). I have friends/family that liked the idea of giving money via an internet service and I haven't seen many reviews on the use of the gift card. The only option I would want to use would be the honeymoon travel fund (we have personally paid for the honeymoon). And I just want to see if anyone has had issues transferring their funds to use for Delta flights and Uber rides.

This post isn't asking if you think Honeyfund is tacky or not, just looking for input from those who have actually used the service and what their experience was.

Thanks!

If you get it in gift card form does is it just a target gift card? Or does it come out as one of those generic visa ones?

Personally I LOVE those generic visa gift cards. But I think you would have trouble with airlines, and uber. Uber in particular is very picky about the kind of card you use, because you set it up one time and it always funds out of that card.

Right from the Target Registry FAQ:

We’ve partnered with Honeyfund to allow your friends and family to contribute funds to your honeymoon and newlywed experiences as a wedding gift. Use the funds for honeymoon travel, adventures, date nights, classes, entertainment and more.

When you register for Target honeymoon and newlywed experience gifts powered by Honeyfund, a Honeyfund account will automatically be created for you. Honeyfund will send an email to confirm your account and you’ll be able to customize your fund settings. You can also publish a Honeyfund page that is linked from your Target Registry. You can customize your Honeyfund page to include wedding details, travel plans and additional gift offerings for your guests to choose from.

Friends and family can purchase Honeyfund + Target gifts which contribute funds to your account. You’ll have two options to redeem your gifts:

I did not realize that you could have honeyfund funds directed to a reloadable card; I thought they were all direct deposited into a bank account. I appreciate the ease in giving honeyfund gifts, though some people do not find crowd funding registries appropriate. I don't imagine that it would be difficult to use the gifts for flights or Uber because they should also be linked to your bank account. I'm sure the people who love and support you will celebrate you however you choose to develop your registry.

So from what I understand from the website has certain sponsors that it offers the gift cards through. It has different buckets you can choose the donations (honeymoon transportation, honeymoon, dinner and movie etc.) to go to but the sponsor options listed are very few. Also I think the gift cards are digital, but I am not sure.
