Stressing about Farewell Brunch!

Kimberly, on November 2, 2022 at 1:55 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 2
So this is way premature, but stress is my middle name at this point. I’m having a destination wedding, and we’re planning to have a farewell “brunch”. Brunch in quotes because we don’t really want to overstate it and it’ll be more of a continental breakfast/pizza party, so on our invitations and stuff we’re referring to it as a “farewell gathering.” We are trying to convey that this is not something people should rearrange their travel schedule for, but it’s definitely available for those who are still around. Our venue does require an exact headcount, though, so we are collecting RSVPs.

So anyway, the stress comes in because last weekend, we found out that FH’s parents invited a few more extended family members to the wedding that we were not aware of (yes, we’re having a stern talking to with them about that one). Luckily we have room in all our venues except the farewell location. We can move elsewhere if we go over, but I’m so in love with the place it’s currently planned. We haven’t sent out invitations yet so I know that (1) not everyone invited to the wedding will actually attend, and (2) even fewer will make it to the farewell brunch. But for peace of mind, hopefully, what percentage of your guests made it to the farewell brunch?!? Especially if you had a destination wedding where everyone was from out of town.

Is the brunch a sit-down type thing or more "come and go"???

If it is "come and go"... I think you can still invite everyone as they likely won't be there the entire time. We were 25 people over our 75 people limit at our welcome party but no one noticed (including the event staff) as people came and went. We didn't have a "per person" charge so it was ok.

I was thinking about this, too, and I don’t know whether or not they’ll let me get away with it. They require buffet service, but it can be super low key/not a full meal. Really it’s not a huge deal because there are other locations at the venue that fit more people and we have until 30 days prior to change it. It’s just that I’m soooo excited about the space that we did get, that until those RSVPs start rolling in and we know how many to expect, I’m going to be panicking about it lol.
