My mother-in-law decided to throw me a virtual shower super early. It is next month and people have started mailing stuff to our apartment. Some of the stuff is in packages and we can't tell what it is. However, today we received an item that wasn't wrapped and came in the original box with a photo of what it is. We weren't planning on opening anything until the day of the shower, but since we know what it is I'm not sure what the etiquette it for this. Any advice?

I would just put it aside with all the rest and open the box during the shower. And joke, "Gosh, I wonder what this is???" when you open it on screen. That gift-giver probably didn't know how their gift would be shipped, so they shouldn't miss out on seeing you open it.
