Should I or shouldn't I

Just Us Two, on July 7, 2019 at 3:50 AM Posted in Registry 0 11
Greetings Future brides,
My future husband and I will be combing 2 households once we're married. We have so much stuff already. Will it be inappropriate to request gift cards or monetary gifts as opposed to setting up a bridal registry. I'm just afraid of ending up with a bunch of items we already have. Please advise. 😔

Just don’t register. If people ask where you’re registered, tell them you’re combining two households and have more stuff than you need. Everyone knows money is a good gift. We didn’t register and only got a few boxed gifts, and most of those were upgrades to things we already had - a nice dinner set (as opposed to the cheap Walmart style ones we had), a couple of sets of wine glasses (we didn’t have matched sets, too many had got broken!), a fancy cutlery set which we use for dinner parties. You may have some older guests who prefer to give a boxed gift so maybe come up with a few ideas to give them. You can never have too many nice towels or sheet sets.

I don't think that's inappropriate at all. Many people have a honeymoon fund now. I only had a honeymoon fund and did get some physical gifts but mostly cash gifts.

KiwiDerbyBride yes I've decided against the bridal registry. I loved idea of the honeymoon fund. Although we have two houses of goods we well be still forever grateful for what we receive. I mainly just want everyone to show up and have a good time.

We were in the same situation so we didn’t register anywhere and when people asked we told them we didn’t really need anything and just wanted them to join in our special day. Of course many people showed up with money or gift cards and some brought nothing like we asked. For us it was more about having family and friends to celebrate with us.

We had the same situation. We did only a small registry for a few household items we wanted to upgrade (towels, cooking utensils) then Honeyfund.

Thank you. I like that idea also. My FH and I desperately need to do an inventory before I decide on what to do. I'm not looking forward to that. 🤦🏾‍♀️
