Rings Soldered or Separate?

Just curious,

Did you or are you planning on having your rings soldered together? Or do you plan on leaving them separate? Why?

Right now, my rings are separated (pictured below). I am considering getting them soldered together mainly so that they won't turn. I know that some people wear only their wedding bands, but I LOVEEE how mine look together so I doubt that I will ever only wear the bands (I have 2 - one on top and one on the bottom). I've considered the pros and cons for each decision but haven't made my final decision yet.

What have you done or are planning to do?

I absolutely HATE how my engagement ring turns around and I have to keep fixing it to match, that's my main reason for considering soldering them. I like how yours look together, very pretty.

Thank you! It would frustrate me when they weren't matching because then the stone is jabbing me in my finger. I was hesitant because I didn't know how they would look together, but I really liked it! I will admit though, some rings may look better separate or soldered together!

I don't think I will just wear my 2 bands together (unless my engagement ring was getting serviced or something.). I just love how they look together

I’ve left mind separate. I wear mine together 99% of the time. But sometimes, I just like to throw on my band and go. I just enjoy having options, and once you solder them together, you don’t have that.

Soldering can be a good idea for a reason I haven't seen mentioned: if you always wear your rings together, the rings can injure each other.

Diamond bands can scratch the metal of your engagement ring (remember, diamonds are stronger than metal. Diamond vs any metal, even platinum, diamond will win.) If the bands are plain, however, there is less risk - but the metals will still rub and wear on each other.

So, if you plan to always wear them together, or like 80-90% of the time, soldering is a good idea. It keeps the rings from shifting against each other. (Otherwise, consider an inexpensive spacer.)

The downside to soldering, obviously, is that it is basically irreversible. I say "basically" because it sometimes can be undone, but it will usually damage the rings in the process.

Yes I did see that the rings could rub against each other and cause problems! I definitely wouldn't reverse the soldering if I got it though, for all that I would just ask my husband to buy a completely different ring lol

Mine are already soldered--I was going to wait until after the wedding, but I had a member at work who was willing to do it for free, so I took her up on it. Mine is engagenent ring, ring for my stepdaughter, and wedding ring. I HATED them turning and not matching up when I didn't have the soldered.
