Rehearsal Dinner?

What’s your budget for your rehearsal dinner? And what are you doing? Dinner at home? A restaurant? Renting out the venue the night before?

We did a dinner at a restaurant and I’m so glad we did! It was more affordable than I thought. We worked with the Restaurant who had a pre fix menu and it was only $15 a person - it was a drink and an entree and dessert!

His parents are paying for the rehearsal dinner but I don’t want to take advantage of it. We’re booking at a restaurant that my parents frequent & can hold around 30 guests. We’re getting married on a Saturday so we’re having the rehearsal dinner the Thursday before.

We’re having a taco buffet at my grandparents. Granny and are doing most of the prep. A lot of it I can have done ahead of time and we can throw in the Crockpots before rehearsal.

We had dinner at a pizza place near our venue. We had about 20 people and spent less than $350.

We Dont Really Have A Budget But Refuse To Splurge. We'll Have The Rehearsal At The Venue Then Have A Casual Dinner In Our Home Backyard. Some Family And Friends Have Offered To Buy The Food And Prepare It.

Our rehearsal was quite costly; $80 pp after all fees & taxes. We have about 30 guests. But, it’s a destination wedding and all our guests are invited to rehearsal. Because the cost is so high, we opted not to do a day after brunch.

We spent around $3000 on our rehearsal dinner (we paid for it ourselves, because my parents and my husband's parents paid for the actual wedding). We rented a party room and had a caterer set up heavy app stations, and we hired a couple of students to serve wine, beer, and champagne which we had bought in bulk. Dessert was from a local bakery down the street. We had about 70 people come, because we invited all out of town guests.

That being said, rehearsal dinners come in all shapes and forms. Some of my cousins spent over $10k on their rehearsal dinners at fancy restaurants, and some of my friends have spent $100 on theirs for pizza and beer at their home. There isn't a right or wrong way to do it.

I'm not sure what the budget was since my in-laws paid for it, but we had a very relaxed dinner. We had to have our rehearsal in the morning the day before at our venue, so we did a rehearsal lunch on Friday. We went somewhere where they have outdoor yard games, so we didn't even have to dress nice, which in my opinion was the best part lol.

We paid $1,000 for our RD. We had ours at our venue right after we finished the rehearsal. We got married at a vineyard, so we had an open wine and beer bar and our venue served wood fire pizzas (which they are well known for) and salad.

We're having it at our church and getting Korean fried chicken catered, probably $10-15 a person with a lot of leftovers.

Ours is at a restaurant at our venue so that the immediate family and bridal party members who traveled to get there don’t have to travel anywhere else during the weekend. It’s $20 per person plus a chef’s attendant fee. Since we have a fairly large number of immediate family members along with the bridal party and their significant others, it’ll be around $1000. That doesn’t include any alcohol that guests choose to order but does include a lot of food and dessert.

This is one I struggled with A LOT. No matter what way I tried to budget, I just don't have the money for it. And due to the size of the immediate family and bridal party, my two-bedroom apartment isn't big enough to host it in.

MY SMIL called this past weekend and asked where I was at planning wise and what we needed. I told her that there would simply be NO rehearsal dinner. She has taken that into her own hands.

Normally I am a bit of a control freak but it was an event I was prepared not to have in the first place. So it will be a nice surprise.

I have read lots of different forums that it is not a necessary thing. If you can't do it, don't beat yourself up.
