Rehearsal Dinner and Covid

Michelle, on September 14, 2020 at 3:46 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 11
I have my rehearsal date and would like to provide the wedding party and parents dinner but this would mean 15-20 people. Due to Covid, this is challenging because I can’t find a place that would accommodate that many...Some restaurants would do two tables but they can’t guarantee we would be in the same area....what should I do for dinner as thank you? The only people with big enough houses are 20-30 minutes away....One with a Newborn which I doubt would want any company and the other my sister who already is taking up her time for my wedding day getting ready space. How do I provide dinner for everyone?

    I can see some options

    1. ask if the people with big enough houses can host

    2. provide take away meals - i'm sure there's places where you can literally just buy to go boxes of meals and just give them to your guests after the rehearsals

    3. try to find a restaurant with reservation that could accommodate but like you said, that might be hard

    4. find an airbnb and get catering or party trays

It looks like #1 would be the best choice.

Is there a nearby pavilion or park area? You could pick up the food from somewhere (or have it delivered) and do a big picnic dinner.

I like the airbnb idea or a park as a backup

We are having our rehearsal dinner at my FH’s parents’ house. It’s about a 30 minute drive from the ceremony site, and we are ordering take out catering. If people want to go, they will. I think that a home is probably the safest area, but that is just my opinion. We didn’t feel comfortable being inside a restaurant, and with 13-15 people, and as you mentioned, the seating can get complicated.

We did the dinner at a restaurant with a large outdoor covered space - we had about 20 people. We had several separate tables. It seemed to work out well.

Good idea. It would be colder since it would be fall but maybe some shelter houses are around.

Can you reach out to some local club / fraternities (e.g. Masonics, Eagle Club, local Churches have space). If someone has a big enough yard, host it outdoors and have it catered.

Yeah I’ll have to ask someone in our part who is willing to let us hangout for some pizza or wings. Thanks everyone.
