I honestly registered within a week of being engaged. Only because a few members of the family were already asking what they should get us and where we were registered. Just made it easier to already have it set up.

That being said, I think it depends on when you shower is. Or if you arent having one, then definitely have it set up right before you send out invites. That way the info is available for people

My bridal shower probably wont be untill August or September 2020. The only thing that would make us wait untill next year would be due to projects changing or being discontinued

I would start your registry a week or two before your save the dates go out, at the very earliest. It's definitely not necessary to have it started before save the dates, but I know some people like to send gifts early, especially if they know in advance that they won't be able to make it. Starting any earlier than that is going to be a giant pain because you'll have to keep an eye on it constantly for out of stock or discontinued items.

    Hey there!

Realistically, there is no rule about when you can create your registry! The only thing is, as you mentioned yourself you run the risk of some products being discontinued or being out of stock by the time your guests are shopping for your gifts. This means that you would have to continuously be updating your registry and rechecking stock.

Perhaps by waiting a few months, you will have a better idea of what you want as it is still quite a while away. There is nothing wrong with window shopping though!!

I wouldn't worry about this until next spring. We created ours in April for our December wedding.

We ended up starting our registry before our engagement party at the request of my Mom. We had our engagement party back in May, a year out from our wedding. She said people who would want to bring a gift would rather get us something that we wanted. FH and I both own a house, and when he moved in with me, we combined everything we already owned and really don't need much at all. So this helped with people "guessing" what they could get us. I also do check on the registry from time to time, to make sure items aren't going discontinued. I'll also be checking it over before the shower, and as it gets closer to our big day.

As said before, there really isn't a time frame to start one, and no one would even know you have one started unless you tell them.

I would say a few months before your shower would be a good time frame. We did ours 12 months out and honestly I wish I waited. This is just because I've had to go back and change because of items going discontinued so many times!
