Registry

My mom has said at some point we need to do a registry. I mean we are still a year away but we don’t really want one. Did anyone not do a registry?

As long as you aren't having a shower, a registry isn't necessary. If you have lots of older guests who you know will want to give a physical gift, I would recommend setting up a small registry, just so that you get items you actually need/want instead of 4 toasters and 17 picture frames.

We have a very small registry, but it's totally fine to skip having one!

Yea I've known people who didn't have one. People will give gifts anyway or some people give gifts not on the registry

We’re fine with that we don’t care to get gifts either way. We’re just glad to have everyone together.

We live together too and don't need many of the typical household items but added a few things we have been planning to buy on our own anyway. I went through Amazon since we already had a wish list with items to get for the house we bought last year, the best part is they also have gift cards for Lowe's (renovations!), Visa gift cards, and various restaurants for date nights. You could always set up a honeymoon fund too. The last thing anyone wants is 20 of something they already have.

I only have two registries and I didn't want one and so far people purchased 6 things off of it. I did Amazon and Target. It doesn't hurt to have one you'll be surprise who will purschased something and then it mailed to your house.

Our registry has 10 items total. We have lived together for over a year now so we have everything we need we just upgraded a few things such as pot and pans, dishes, bedding, and things like that. I also added a ninja blinder that I wanted. I kept it small and only created one to please the older guest who insisted on a gift.

I was so opposed to a registry when we first got engaged. It seemed silly to me considering it is his second marriage, we are both well established in our careers, and we are in a good place financially.

But. His family really wants to throw me a bridal shower...and I could just envision receiving things we didn't like with no gift receipt.

SO we bit the bullet and put together an amazon registry. We were able to add items from other websites like pottery barn and williams sonoma to it as well.

Honestly, it can't hurt to put one together. And like someone mentioned before, it will help ensure you get things you like from older guests who will most likely give you a physical gift.

We thought about doing the honeymoon fund but not sure how to go about it. My boss said something about she had a bird cage at her wedding where people put money in it.

That’s what I did for my cousin she’ll be married this year but she had I think 4 registries and the prices of stuff she had on there turned me away from wanting one like $100 for a pillow

We do expect more cash and gift cards than anything. The physical items on our registry range from $30-$120 so our guests can find something for every budget or like one guests seems to have done, pick a couple of things. We figured since we already planned to buy most of the tings we put on the list, it would end up saving us that money in the end anyway. When I was young people did the dollar dances, I don't know if that's still a thing and certainly not something we wanted but I have heard of things like boxes or whatever for people to put money into for a honeymoon fund. I just felt that since we made sure to add those gift cards to our registry people will get the hint that we would appreciate money more than objects.

We’re not having one but we have a card box because our guests always want to bring a card. I didn’t want to mention gifts at all on the invite(even “no gifts”) so I’m leaving it up to them what they want to do. Even a simple Thank You said in person would make me happy, just come!

LOL- All of my items are under like $75 maybe less. The only big things I have is like the Carpet Cleaner but I have it where they can contribute how ever amount of money towards it until its paid off or we can pay the rest to buy it.

We didn't want to have a registry. Was totally against it. Then a very wise, elderly, family friend said the following, " If you don't register anywhere, you'll receive a bunch of junk you'd not want in a million years. You are getting married, people will want to purchase a gift. Why not receive something you'd like?" So we made a registry with Zola. Love them!! Best of luck.

My FH said if we do one he wanted to just stick to Walmart cause any of the stuff we would want like new dishes since he’s clumsy and dropped a whole box when we moved would be way cheaper there then target. We don’t want anyone to spend a lot of money for gifts

LOL, my carpet cleaner is not even that much. I work at a hospital but I am being thoughtful about what I enter on the registry. I do not want to break someone's pockets for a small gift. I feel like it just would have been smarter to put a Visa $100 gift card and someone would probably get that quicker and then she can purchase her pillow from that. It is all about the mind, just like if you have kids you would purchased a pizza cut into squares because they would think it is a lot of pizza but would get 3 small slices of square than 3 slices of regular sliced. I hope someone gets her the pillow though.
