Registry

This is a pretty straight forward question but do people start buying things on your registry ONLY after you've sent out wedding/bridal shower invites? We haven't seen anything get bought (not a huge deal) but our wedding is on August 31st, and a friend of mine is getting married August 30th and she's already got a ton of things purchased on her registry. So how on earth do people know to go to their registry unless they got an invite already? Just curious, obviously it'll happen when it happensSmiley smile Guess I'm just trying to distract my mind from planning lol.

Registry information doesn’t go on the wedding invite. We mostly got things once our shower invites went out, but we did get about 5 or 6 things after our save the dates went out because they had our website on them with our registries link. Everyone’s friends and family are different though as far as if and when they buy things.

If her wedding website is on her save the dates, the registries are probably listed there. It’s also not super difficult to just Google “firstname lastname wedding registry.”

I had some people ask me ahead of time, and my grandmother asked two days after we got engaged!

If you haven't published your registry info, then there's no surprise why you haven't gotten any gifts yet. Once you send shower invites or put your registry on your website, I'm sure you will start getting some gifts.

My registry is on my website and it was on my save the dates. But only two people actually went to my website and no one bought a gift til shower invites went out. Even then people just asked us what we wanted.

We didn’t have a shower or anything and all of our family lives out of town so I included the registry information in our invitations. Ultimately you know your guests, so do what is best for you! My FSIL had guest Facebook page and posted it there. Whatever works for you!

If I intend to purchase something off the registry, I just google the names of the couple and the registry pops up. If people want to buy something, it's not hard to find.

With me, unless it's a super close friend that I absolutely know I'm getting invited, I wait til an invite shows up.

People started buying things just the very end of June for my wedding coming up on the 22nd! People tend to be last minute with, well, everything lol I would just wait until closer to the date! I have my registry on my wedding website.

People can look up wedding registries with a quick google search.
We didnt have a shower and our gifts started getting sent about 2-3 weeks before the wedding.

That definitely makes sense, I must be really impatient. Starting from scratch when looking at apartments is stressful.

We didn't send out save the dates, we are just going straight to sending the main wedding invitations so it really makes sense now!

You did send the invites out already, right?? People do things last minute but your invites etc should be out the door way ahead of today's date for an Aug 31st wedding.

Our parents bought a few random registry gifts for fun prior, but we started getting guest gifts after our shower & wedding invites went out. People could find ours if they went on our website though which they could find by googling our names.

I know it's kind of the norm for people to send them out months in advance, but for me personally if I get an invite months out from someone's wedding, chances are I'm just going to forget about it and miss it. My family and friends agreed that 6-8 weeks out is plenty of time. But yeah the last minute thing definitely plays a role! lol
