Me and my FH are having a hard time deciding we’re we should register and should we register now even though our wedding is next July?

We started our Amazon registry right away, 18 months out. It gave us time to add things as we thought of them, then delete things either as we bought them or realize we didn't need them.

We registered about 10 months before and started receiving gifts immediately but everyone is different. There were things that were discounted that we had to change. We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond, Crate & Barrel, and Pottery Barn.

You can but people probably won’t get you anything for a while. You also have to update it because prices change or they stop making things. I made mine early but I was constantly adjusting it. I thought it was helpful to already have an idea of what was on there though.

You can register early especially if you are planning on having engagement parties. I would suggest staying away from seasonal items because those will be discontinued in a few months and you will have to start over again. Many staple items like bed linens, dishes, cutlery, kitchen appliances and gadgets stay around from year to year so those are pretty safe to register for early. Make sure you check up on it and update it accordingly.

You can register whenever you like, just make sure you check on it regularly to update out of stock items.

Wait until Jan/Feb 2020. If you register too early items will go out of stock or get discontinued and you'll have to redo your registry a few times

I would recommend registering at at least one physical store location. Some of your older guests are just not going to order online. We registered at Amazon and Target. We started really early because it was an easy thing to get crossed off the list, as well as then being able to go back and add stuff as we wanted. I don't think there's any rule to doing your registry as long as you have it done by the time shower invitations go out (if you are having a shower).

We did Bed Bath and Beyond and Boscovs for ours. Other great choices could be Amazon or Pottery Barn.

6months-ish out from your wedding is a good target. I would recommend locations that are convenient for a good portion of your guests or offer cheaper/free shipping. Coupons might also be something to think about.

For example, I love Crate and Barrell stuff, but their free shipping limit is very high and there is not one close to where we live. So I usually buy from another registry so if my gift budget is $50, I can actually get you a $50 gift, not a $38 gift plus $12 in shipping. Does that make sense?

Bed bath and beyond ALWAYS has coupons, and a low shipping limit. Target and Amazon have great return options and low shipping limits as well.

We started our registry’s about 8 months prior to the wedding. I wish we would’ve waited until later because a lot of items were out of stock after a while or not available in store so we had to make a lot of adjustments. We registered at Bed Bath & Beyond and Target.

We started ours maybe a year before our wedding. Got two registry items as Christmas gifts from future in laws. We registered at Amazon and Target.

My wedding coordinator suggested having it (or one) done when Save the Dates are sent. He suggested having it does early because some will send an enagement gift, and others will go to it for “holiday” shopping. For us that would mean we would have it done before the November/ December holidays. But, he says he suggests it to all because there are holidays and parties all year. ((Do I buy all of that, not really- will I follow it Incase, you bet))

Totally agree with miss Lauren! We got engaged July 2017 but didn’t actually set a date until October 2018. We just did our registry in April. No one even asked us about where we were registered until we sent our invitations in mind May. I think if you make your registry too early you might have more items being discontinued or even seasonal. When we made our registry we were told not to put anything that was clearance on it because it will probably go out of stock before anyone actually gets it for you. But, if you’re having engagement parties then I would totally do it. People will want to get you stuff.

We started our registry in April for our December wedding. We wanted to give ourselves time to add or delete items in time for when invitations go out in later in July.
