Registry time

What kind of stuff did you put on your registry? Did people actually get you things off of it? I honestly worry that no one is going to get anything and I’m going to feel dumb for putting the time into making a registry or setting up a gift/card table.

We have two registries. At BB&B we registered for linens, towels, new dishes, serving dishes, and other hosting items. At Amazon we registered for camping and fishing gear, items for our (hopefully soon to be) backyard, and a few other random things. If you're already living on your own, whether together or independently, I would focus on upgrades or replacements of your current items like linens or small appliances. Also consider things that you might need in the near future. We don't currently host holidays in our home, but in the next few years we would like to be able to, so we registered for a roasting pan and a gravy boat, things you don't typically think of when you run to Target.

I can't say how many people will purchase from our registry since we're still almost 6 months out, but if someone offers to host a shower for you, having a registry will be a necessity. Even without a shower, it's pretty customary for guests to send gifts in the few months leading up to the wedding. I wouldn't expect any physical gifts at the actual wedding as most people just bring a card with a monetary gift.

We were kind of dreading the registry since we were kind of uncomfortable asking for gifts. But we went to BB and B and actually had a great time looking at stuff even if it didn’t end up on the registry. It was actually one of our favorite date nights. We each had our own homes before living together so we have a lot of stuff... but definitely put towels, new pillows, a pizza stone, new pots/pans, luggage etc. We are looking into a honeymoon registry as well!

We have one at bed bath and beyond and also Amazon. Since we already live together we put a lot of upgrade stuff on there and things we have been looking at. Things like new cookware, glasses, plates, sheets, towels, etc.. and people will get you stuff. I'm also using it as a wish list so I know what I want and will eventually buy the things that no one bought us. At bed bath and beyond a consultant will walk around with you and make suggestions.

We were worried about getting all gift cards at our shower because we live out of state from where the shower was and wedding will be. We registered at Amazon, BBB, and Crate and Barrel. We got SO MUCH off the BBB registry it was ridiculous! We registered for what we needed/wanted. We moved in together a few years ago and got pretty cheap kitchen stuff and a lot of handmedowns. So we registered for practically new everything for the kitchen. Dishes, glasses, silverware, small appliances like a kitchen aid and blender. Most people seemed to get us the kitchen items we asked for. I think my mom may have mentioned that to the guests 😂😂. We did get a fair amount of gift cards as well which was nice. We used them to get some others things on our registry.

If someone is throwing a shower for you, definitely register! People will use it as a guide to get you what you want! Also, even if you are not having a shower, I would still do a small registry anyway. Some people (especially the older crowd or certain social circles) prefer to give a physical gift at weddings versus a card with a check or cash, so you may get a few physical gifts at the wedding itself.

We have 84 gifts, 30 have been purchased between the shower & wedding. We invited 225 people. We had house stuff like kitchen items but then things like dog door, camping stuff, etc.
