We just got our first gifts from our registry! Older folks like being able to buy a couple something off of the online registry- I think it's that mindset of what started wedding gifts of helping the young couple out. My aunt and uncle bought us two things, so they're clearly wanting to give us what they would term as "useful".

In my experience people give money at the wedding itself and buy off the registry for the shower. We had 3 registries and 2 showers and everything was bought off them before the wedding. At the wedding we just got cash and checks in cards.

We are assuming most people who wish to give a gift will do so via monetary gift. But, since we are having a DW, we wanted to try to eliminate physical gifts since it would be a pain in the you know what to try to get them back home since we are flying. Instead, we registered for experiences we could enjoy together as a couple. Some are experiences during the DW trip, and some are for use during our 1st year as a married couple.

    We put together 4 registries.
1 for Bed Bath & Beyond (we have a store nearby)
1 for Target (no Target nearby but lower pricing)1 for Amazon (they have everything)1 for Honeymoon experiences
Since our families insisted on throwing us two showers, we registered for probably 100 or so gifts. We are hoping most of them will be bought and they'll just gift cash at the wedding.

So far, our Bed Bath and Beyond registry is getting hit the hardest.

We had Amazon and Target registries. No one bought off Target and about 4 people (granted we only had 30 invited guests) bought off the Amazon registry. I didn’t have a bridal shower. Most people brought cash or checks to the wedding.

I see a lot of people using Zola for their wedding registries these days (I used a different, Canadian version for mine). The advantage of having individual registries (like One for Bed, Bath and Beyond, one for Crate and Barrel, etc). is often those retailers will give you a discount to buy what wasn't purchased for you. So, if you really want that amazing (insert product) and no one bought it for you, BBB will give you a 10%-20% discount after your wedding.

So far we have amazon, bed bath and beyond, and target on our registry: amazon and bed bath and beyond have been getting used. The gifts are mostly done at the shower as you’re “showering the bride with love and gifts” but cards with money are typically done at the wedding itself, hence the card box. Our registry was also used for gifts for us during the holidays and our housewarming

We out together some registries. We did ours at target and bed bath and beyond. That way it gave people the option for gifts or cash. Smiley smile I know some people like to get actual gifts that instead of money so it is more "thoughtful"

Zola gives you a 20% off discount everything not purchased off your registry.
We initially made a bb&b registry at one of their stores and it was a pain, every other day I was getting alerts that things were no longer in stock or available.
My fiancé converted all our stuff to Zola. So all the gifts we picked at bb&b, everything I choose online from crate and barrel and then I was able to add a bunch more gifts from ANYWHERE. We are also using Zola as our website and for our rsvp’s. Having everything in one place makes the most sense to me and it’s easy for guests.

We had a smaller Amazon registry (about 70 gifts for 225 people invited) that we used for my bridal shower & our wedding. I'd say more than half our guests gifted cash at our wedding but we got almost everything off our registry too. If you want a shower, you'll need a physical gift registry.

We did a registry but I also bought a cute card box on Etsy for anyone that brings cards/cash to the wedding.
