Real flower bouquets...what did you do with yours?

Nemo, on May 2, 2019 at 4:12 PM Posted in Married Life 0 10

I got married about 9 months ago, and came across my bouquet and H's bout in our basement the other day. After the wedding, I hung it upside down to dry out, but I never did anything else with it. I would hate to throw it away, but I also don't have any ideas for what to do with it.

What did you do with your dried bouquets? Or what are you planning to do?

I had mine freeze dried and put in a frame with my invitation. While it is too late for you to freeze dry yours (must be done while still fresh), maybe you could still do something similar?

That is so beautiful!!! I love the way that turned out. I wish I had done more research prior to getting married. Do you have this on display in your house somewhere?

I have no idea what happened to my bouquet after the wedding. But I am not a flower person at all so I didn’t really care.

Thank you! I actually forgot to look into it before the wedding but when I saw how beautiful my bouquet was I really wanted to preserve it somehow. We stayed home immediately after the wedding so I searched online for places and actually found the place in my area. I almost waited too long though so she wasn't able to save my roses but the peonies were still in decent shape. I have this hanging near my front door in the entryway. My card box is there too (replica of our house)! Ignore the cardboard on the floor - we were landscaping and didn't want to track in mud.

I'm planning to gift my bouquet to a friend who's helping me a lot at the wedding. The first time I got married, my silk flower bouquet gathered dust in a closet, so I want to do real flowers this time and give them to someone who will enjoy them. However, I'm going to get some good pictures and have the bouquet replicated in embroidery. There are tons of folks on Etsy that do this. Then that will be my, much more manageable, keepsake.

I dried our flowers by hanging them upside down while we were gone for our honeymoon. We purchased a shadow box from the craft store (one of the glass front ones), and my bouquet and hit boutonniere are both in it, and it's hanging in our guest room.

As a side note, my bouquet was Peace roses and Gerbera daisies, and while the roses did well, Gerbera daisies should not be dried by hanging them upside down lol - I had to cut them out of the bouquet - they looked awful after drying.

I am not a flower person but ended up LOVING my bouquet. I dried it out and then ended up throwing i away a couple years later. I saved a few of my favorite bits out of it and just put them in the box where I have all of our cards and misc. wedding stuff I'm saving.

Was it real? Is there any mold from leaving it there? Crazy question, but I've seen it happen.

It's been 30 days and I just got around to drying mine out. I took all the petals off, through out the stems, and dried the petals in the oven. The smell was horrible, but now it's done. I'll be buying a jar to put them in to go with the rest of our display items (hand fasting rope, printed script of officiant, cake topper, etc.)

This wasn't me, but my mom, her maid of honor took one of each type and color flower and had them made into a 'mini version' of her bouquet. Then she put them (or had them put by a professional) into a beautiful, gold and elegant frame and my mom kept it on her dresser. Unfortunately, I don't know what you call the 'professionals' who do this. I did run across an ad though to 'preserve'your boquet but the prices were ridiculous. I bet you could figure out how to do it on you tube if you wanted though.

I'm not married yet, but I did sola wood flowers because I lovvvve flowers and wanted to be able to keep mine out in a vase or curio cabinet like my matron of honor has done with hers.

You probably won't want to do this with your wedding bouquet, but every time my FH has bought me flowers, when they dry out I remove all the petals and put them in clear vases aand jars I have on our bookshelf. They keep smelling sweet and they're pretty to look at!
