psa About Theknot Weddingwebsite/registry

Hello WeddingWire friends,

I had a nasty experience and wanted to get the word out about it to spare others!

When we were designing our WeddingWebsite and looking into doing a registry we tried both TheKnot and WeddingWire out to see which we liked better. We wound up liking WeddingWire more because we can specify guests that are children, could include hyperlinks easier, and could do meal RSVPs.

All good, right? Fast forward almost a year. I decide to Google my name. I do it every once in awhile to see what employers would see if they searched me (highly recommend to get into this, it's a good practice). What do I see third option down? A registry under my full name and my fiance's full name with our wedding date on TheKnot. WHAT?!

Realization sinks in. I was fooling around with these tools before we had announced our engagement to the world.

ANYONE COULD HAVE GOOGLED ME AND SEEN IT.

In our settings our wedding website was set to NOT VIEWABLE in search engines and we set the website to DEACTIVTED; it didn't matter. The registry has a mind of its own separate from their wedding website. And there was no setting to delete the registry! I had to email TheKnot to do it!!!

So, if you're toying around with things don't do it on TheKnot unless you want everyone on planet Earth to know via Google.

This experience made me appreciate the WeddingWire website and registry even more. This did not happen to me when I set up using their tools.
