So, one thing I never even thought about, until it was too late (will explain) is that I never practiced my new signature after changing my name. Well, I used to sign out my entire first name middle initial and last name, but then I got lazy. Being a mom means signing a lot of things haha. So, I started signing my first and last initial...and had been using that as my signature (except for when I signed really important docs, then I signed my entire name). Quick and easy. Andddd this never crossed my mind, but when me and my husband went to the bank to join our finances, I went to go sign my name and realized that I have a new name and didn't really plan for this LOL. So, I lazily signed my first and new last initial, thinking that I could practice later and perfect it. Wellll.......the bank teller decided to tell me AFTER I signed everything that I better use the signature that I signed with (which is just DD, because I just had to be lazy) so they will be able to identify me. *blink blink* Excuse me what? You mean I am stuck with that signature? And she said YES!!! OMG, I think I am totally going to practice, and go back to the bank and ask if I could resign everything so I can have a "do-over" haha, think they will accept? Anyways, this might not seem like much to some, but to me It was just a small little (but kind of important) detail that I never thought about, until this happened. So, learn from my mistakes and practice your signature ladies before changing your name and signing any important documents. Smiley laugh

I tried writing it once when we were discussing changing names and it was so difficult! Since I’m pretty sure I’ll change my name to his I should definitely practice! I didn’t even think about the bank matching your signature- but cone on they should know it’ll change as you get used to writing it! I mean our original signatures changed over time! I have a long last name too so you can usually make out the “DeL” and the rest is kind of scribbles lol. Now I’ll have to practice a W!

Yea its crazy to think about! I know someone that had to pay for 3 separate background checks because sometimes they signed full (first, middle, last) sometimes first, middle initial, last, and sometimes just first and last LOL

I randomly pull out a blank piece of paper and practice! Lol I find myself doing a few and they look good then they either turn to scribble or I accidentally sign my current name. Lol

I've slowly started to practice signing with my new last name and it looks horrible. I feel like I'm learning cursive all over again! lol

Waiting in the queue at the social security office I had to look up how to do a cursive capital G because I had no idea what it looked like >.<

I quite literally had a dream about this last night and have never thought about it!! His last name is totally different from my own so it's going to be a challenge at first for sure!!

I didn't even think about this! I actually just started trying to sign what my name is going to be when I get married and it looks horrible. I'm hyphenating my last name so I have to make the G for his last name look like the rest of my scribbled signature. Its so strange to think I'm going to have to change my entire signature to add his last name to it.

Oh man the first time I signed my name with my new name it was so awkward! I still have to think about it when I sign my name because it's so rare and it's been a year Smiley xd

I would have never thought of this. I do the same thing. Quick and dirty signature. It's my first and last initial and then the z in my last name cause it's the last letter. The mess flowed if that makes sense. I'm going to miss my quick and ugly signature.

Thank you for posting this! I’m sure is something most people don’t think off. To me my first realization was when I went to the DMV for mg license. Luckily I didn’t struggle because I am not changing my signature, the one I have works for both last names even when my last names are so different.
