Poll: How long should you wait after starting a new job to have babies?

I am curious in your opinion, what is an appropriate time to wait (after starting a new job) to have babies? Personally I want to establish myself as a valued employee before cranking out babies. I will be starting a new job next month and will be working on a small team. So when I do have babies, other team members will be carrying my slack and I don't want them to resent me. I would especially appreciate the few males that are on WW to vote in on this since males and females think differently. The small team I would be joining is all males.

This is my opinion:

Minimum wait: 1 year

Ideally: 2 years

P.S. Can anyone explain how maternity leave and short term disability work? Is there a required put in time before you can take advantage of that? How long can you take maternity leave for?

It also depends on your age as to when you want to start having them. Also if you feel discriminated against for being pregnant (like if other employees resent you and make it obvious in the future) I'd definitely zip over to your HR rep at the time and report that. Good luck deciding!

@Ab, I am a little over 30 so not much more time since my Aunt said the risks are higher after 35. Thanks, I forgot HR but that will definitely be a last resort. I want to avoid unnecessary drama.

@GER, I forgot to comment about the Canadian Brides. I can't believe you guys get a year off for maternity leave. That is awesome, makes me want to move to Canada.
