Planning a Bachelorette Party at a Lake House

Katherine, on June 14, 2021 at 1:46 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 3
Hi, all! I’m posting as the Matron of Honor. My best friend is getting married and has decided she wants to do a 3 day weekend-type trip at her cousin’s lake house around January 2022. This trip will be in Florida, not too far from where we all live so it’s pretty much drivable for everyone. I’ve been doing the MOH thing and making a Pinterest Board to help plan decorations. We’ve hit a but of a snag though.

She said she went over the weekend for a short getaway with family and that it was incredibly boring. Unless it’s a heavy drinking type trip she is worried it’ll be a dull weekend. I’m not a big drinker, and I didn't want the emphasis of the party to solely based on being hammered all weekend. Of course we’ll have the standard bachelorette drinks and stuff but I dont want to be taking care of girls and holding hair back all weekend. I was thinking of having games and things but if she’s concerned then I’m a little concerned as well. Has anyone had a party like this before? Because it’s in January I’m nervous that the water will be too chilly for any activities and we’ll be kind of stuck inside. Any ideas on how to keep the momentum going for this party would be great. She’s planning 15 or so gals to come along. I’ve never done anything like this before. Thank you in advance!

I think a group of 15 will probably have more fun than a small family group anyway, but there are definitely some ways to make it fun other than drinking!

-How far is the house from the nearest town? You could take a few cars into town to shop or make a reservation at a restaurant.

-Are there outdoor activities around like guided hikes, kayaking, or other tours? It will likely be too cold to swim but kayaking or a boat trip will probably be fine. I love kayaking in the winter here.

-Plan a spa/movie night. Bring a bunch of face masks and other beauty stuff so you will have things to do at the house.

What part of Florida is the house in? I'm also a Florida native so maybe I'll have some other ideas Smiley laugh

These are all really awesome ideas! Thank you so much! It’s in Lake Placid. I believe the nearest is Sebring. Sort of middle of nowhere really! Thank you again! Any other recommendations would be awesome! We’re going to chat soon and I think these suggestions will make her feel more confident about her bach party choice!

I love Dayna's idea and would definitely get out on the water if you can!! Can you hire a boat that will cruise your group around for an hour or two??

I'd also check out if there are any wineries or breweries in the area! Yes - that's a drinking activity, but hanging out a winery/brewery all day is also just fun and no nearly as aggressive as going out to bars at night!! 🍷🍻
