Not done or doing an engagement photo?

Joneka, on July 31, 2020 at 4:42 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 15
Anyone not done or doing an engagement photo session? We've been engaged since May 2020....and I'm thinking about skipping it.

I think it’s fine to skip it if you aren’t gonna use it for any of your invites or save the dates or displaying them

We were supposed to have engagement pictures taken last fall but due to lots of different roadblocks, we never had them done. You only need to have them done if you really want them!

I put mine off for the longest time and I was going to skip it but I’m glad that we did it. We don’t have a lot of professional pictures together. And it’s really your only opportunity to take engagement pictures. They came out better than I expected and it was money well spent.

We took our engagement pictures this past June after being engaged for almost a year. Ours was included in our photography package, so we definitely wanted to do them. Our wedding date was supposed to be today, so we weren't going to use the pictures for Save The Dates or invites or anything, but we just wanted them for us to have. If they're included in your photography package, I recommend doing them just to have them, otherwise, I think it's fine to skip them.

If engagement photos are included in your package, I would. I have found they are generally included in most packages.

I’ve been engaged since dec 2019, & due to covid & living in Arizona we were unable to take engagement photos in the spring but we are planning to do them in October , I thought about skipping them but with all these things going on I want a little something to try to enjoy this engagement.

We never bothered with engagement photos. Been married a year and still don't feel like I missed out on anything.

We're doing engagement photos. We want them for our save the dates and invitations. But I don't think it's absolutely necessary. It's all about your preference. If it's not important to you then then can be skipped and the money can be used towards something else.

I don't think you NEED them, but I'd recommend doing them anyway. It's nice to have the pictures, but I also think it was good because we were really comfortable having our pictures taken and working with our photographer, which means we won't need to worry about any photo-related awkwardness on our wedding day.

We skipped them. Fiancé isn’t fond of taking pictures in general, particularly posed ones. Unless you both like capturing those kinds of moments together or have a use for them (framed displays, save the dates, etc) you don’t really need them. On the flip side, it gives the photographer a chance to get to know you both and what style of photos you like best so they can plan better for your wedding day.

Did you book your wedding photographer yet? A lot of them include engagement photos as part of the package. That’s what ours does, and the value of the shoot cannot be applied to anything else. It doesn’t make sense for us to skip them. We do plan to use one of the photos for our Save the Dates and use others on our website. We got engaged in April and are waiting until fall to take them. I do think that it’ll be a great way to get used to the camera and photographer and develop more of a relationship with her. I think it’ll help us be relaxed with pictures on our wedding day.

We only did one because my hubby found a Groupon deal with a new photographer for $50. So we dressed up in the 50’s/60’s theme of our local reception and used a pic on our STDs. And we used a few on our wedding website.

    But not necessary.

We got them done because our wedding photographer included them in her package. It was great because we used them for our save the dates. We never get professional photos done so it was nice. Many photographers in area include them in their wedding packages so they can get to know you and you make you more comfortable.

We got ours taken and I’m sooo happy that we did. At first I didn’t care much but we ended up using them for our save the dates!

They aren't necessary. We got ours done because 1 - we wanted some nice pictures together; 2 - they came with our photography package (she offered either an engagement shoot or bridals, and I wasn't interested in bridals), and 3 - it gave us a chance to work with our photographer before the wedding
