Here are some small nuggets of advice:
- Whatever it is you’re stressing about, you’re probably overthinking it. We had a Sunday wedding, and it was dry wedding for religious and family reasons, and I stressed a lot about whether or not those two things would make my wedding lame and boring, even though I knew they were the best choices for us. Guess what, it wasn’t! People still had fun and enjoyed themselves. Was it a raging dance party that lasted all night? Nope! Did lots of people leave early for work the next day? Yep! But from the beginning, all we wanted was a low key celebration that wouldn’t go all night so we could retreat and get a good night’s rest. And that’s exactly what we got. And people still danced!
- Be true to you! The little personal touches were what our guests enjoyed the most. Guests couldn’t stop talking about the Lego minifigure escort cards, the groom’s Imperial March processional, the cardboard cutout of our cat, and all the other things we did! We embraced goofy things we love and it was so us.
- Summer brides, and especially naturally curly brides like me, if you’re on the fence about how to do your hair, wear it up 😂 we lucked out with a lovely sunny day, but it was definitely hot, and I was so glad to have my hair up to combat the heat and frizz.
