Nickel allergy

Chantel W, on March 4, 2017 at 3:08 PM Posted in Married Life 0 12

I've developed a rash under my engagement ring and band...it started before we got married, so before the band was added. It's just got more irritated. I've tried taking them off, it starts subsiding, but as soon as I put them back on, it gets irritated again..so I've decided to purchase a Qalo band, until we can get my rings metal changed. The current metal is white gold. I've been told that a nickel allergy is common. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Me!! So I didn't know white gold had nickel in it, but I knew I was allergic to nickel from having my belly button pierced. Sure enough, a week into wearing my ring, I developed a huge itchy rash.

You can paint the inside of your band with clear nail polish. You'll have to redo it like once a month.

The good news is I've developed a tolerance for it and no longer have to paint mine!

I have one! It's actually pretty bad, like in high school when those big belts were cool I would get a rash from the belt on my skin. I agree with pairing with nailpolish. That's what I do now to my belts and to the buttons of my jeans.

It dawned on me after my post... I work as a Caregiver, so I'm constantly washing my hands, doing things like helping clients with laundry, and bathing at times...and under the metal I'm thinking my finger can't breathe well either...so I ordered a Qalo & I'm going to wear it to work; they're breathable compared to any type of metal.

Omg is that what this is?! This started like last week I thought it was just my finger getting used to having so much friction all the time!

Me! I'm allergic to every kind of metal besides yellow gold! (I haven't tried rose gold too scared to try it)

I've been wearing my promise ring for 4 years now and I just started getting this irritation. I think if you wash your hands with soap and water and leave the ring on, the soap can build up. I'm taking my ring for a cleaning (it's been over 6 months) and giving my finger some rest. My engagement ring hasn't done anything yet though.

It could be moisture getting trapped under there. I had to take off my Apple Watch for a week or so because I broke out in a rash around my wrist.

I'm allergic to nickel as well, but with my ring (white gold) I only notice a reaction when it's hot outside (and therefore, my finger gets sweaty) or if I've gotten the ring/finger wet. I have a silicone Enso ring for days my finger is particularly itchy. I also dab a little cortisone cream on my finger at night as needed.
