Hey fellow brides! Just curious if anyone knows the name change process? My fiancé is taking my last name, and we weren’t sure if it was the same process as if I were taking his. Also, for the marriage license, do we get it where we’re getting married (Door County) or can we get it where we live (Madison)?

Hi Molly! In Wisconsin you actually apply for a marriage license in the county where one of you lives ("where one or both parties have resided for at least 30 days, no matter where they are getting married in Wisconsin"). When you apply for your license make sure to ask the county clerk's office if the certification will work for your desired name change or if you'll need something else!
