Name Change and Travel

We got married at the end of Feb 2022, and our travel agent said to book our end of May honeymoon in my old name because passports are taking forever right now. All my other name change stuff was done in March, I just didn't change my passport until after the trip.

When we went to the post office to ask, the guy working there said aa long as the ticket name matches the passport name there won't be any problems. I got married in 2018 and kept my old passport for a few years until I changed it to my new name and never had any problems as long as the name matches both.

Are you traveling outside of the US where a passport is needed? In that case you need at least 8 weeks for your passport.
I’m not from New York but you should be fine with your name change by end of February if you’re diligent. You should apply for the name change ASAP with social security office and court. Definitely look into the process of what’s required in your city and evaluate how much time is needed

You should book your travel the same way your name appears on your driver's license.

View Quoted Comment Yes. I’m not in New York but it took me only a few weeks to change my drivers license. A week or so for the marriage certificate to come, another week for the social security card and a few weeks for the drivers license.
