Love my husbands family!

Mrs.L, on November 22, 2016 at 4:52 AM Posted in Married Life 0 8

Not much to say here thats interesting, but with all the negative stories i usually hear about inlaws, i wanted to share my thoughts. I feel incredibly lucky! My husbands whole family is the absolute best! They have been very accepting of me since we started dating. They are wonderful people!

Every family is different. The horror stories are on both of our sides. My FH cannot stand my mother as she has said and done some pretty insane things. His sister and I have gotten into very intensely. She and I are okay now, but we probably will never be close. His other sister and I once were very close. Nope, not anymore.

But let me tell you, my future FIL is an amazing man. He did a good job raising FH and instilling good values in him. He and I are very close. I absolutely love that man.

I've met my future FIL twice, MIL and SIL once. This weekend will add one more to each of those numbers. I don't really have an opinion on them yet. I hope we have a good relationship. I get really nervous around them, and feel like I don't fit in. I hope this weekend is better.

@paintingtherosesred i am so sorry to hear that! Relationships with some of my families spouses and their in-laws have been similar to that, and that situation is always a hard one. And thank you! Also its great you are close with your FIL! That is wonderful. Smiley smile

@Ivy13D that's how I felt at first, too! I think the comfort around them might come with time. I hope for the best for you!

I think this is the last time we see them before the wedding... I just sucks because I know i'll be in a mood. I'll be coming off working 6 days straight (2 days overtime, gotta make that wedding money), and then i'm off for the 5 they are here, and then I work 8 days straight after that. Just knowing I'm not going to have anytime to myself to recharge for the next twenty days is already bringing me down. I think I have a final in there too somewhere. Hopefully I won't get one of my weird moods and want to stay in my bedrooom. :/

    sorry for the rant

First off, congratulations on your recent marriage!

I LOVE my FH's mother's side of the family; they are a great bunch of people, so loving and supportive of FH and myself. Now, his father's side I cannot stand, I tolerate them for him but, they are so negative, always belittling FH or picking with the things that he does. Mind you FFIL did not raise FH at all but, expects so much of him.
