Just sent my passport application for name change

I renewed my passport with no information changes a few months ago (I'll need it before the name change) and it took less than two weeks, I want to say it was 10 calendar days? Also, they sent my old passport back in a separate envelope which arrived the following day, so don't stress if you get just your new passport back, give it a day or so for the second envelope with your marriage license to show up before you freak out (easy enough, right? LOL)

I had to renew my passport in November, and I got it back within 4 weeks without expediting. However I don't know the process for name changes though. Usually it's a pretty quick turnaround for getting a passport back.

I'm not changing my name, but when my friend did this with expediated service it took literally one week.

I renewed mine a couple of months ago (no name change) and it arrived in less than two weeks followed closely by my old (now hole punched) passport and my passport card. I didn't expedite anything.

Lol thank you! I will try to keep calm about it. My friend got married in November and she sent hers in for the change and she said it was super fast too. Hopefully it will be the same for me

I did and got it back somewhere between 3 & 4 weeks, along with my old passport and marriage certificate. However, I went to my town clerk and got a couple certified copies of the marriage certificate so I didn't have to send/bring out the original when changing my name for things like this, social security, my bank, etc... The original will never leave my house.

I use to be a passport agent and people were nervous to send marriage certificates and birth certificates all the time. Your looking at 4-6 weeks max, plus since its only a name change i'm sure you will see it much sooner. This isn't a super busy time for processing either. Around spring break always had us with super long lines.

Took less than 2 weeks even with a name change, I also live very close to the Passport office in Philly, so that probably helped to shave a day of shipping in each direction.

Keep on the lookout for 2 separate envelopes. They will send your new passport and old passport and documents back in separate envelopes that could arrive on different days. I think my new passport arrived first, then everything else a couple days later (old passport and marriage license).
