June 2021 wedding in Chicago, how is the planning going????

Martha, on February 3, 2021 at 9:05 PM Posted in Illinois Planning 0 1

Hi Everyone,

My wedding date is approaching (June 26th, 2021) and I am having an anxiety attack not knowing how many people we allow to invite by then. If we are just going to have church ceremony, how many people are allowed in Church? I hate planning wedding party details if we can only have 15 people max. I might as well just have the church ceremony and go home.

Am I wrong to think that I dont want to spend money on decorations, music, food, cake, etc if it's just our parents and brothers? I dont want to send out invitation if later one I have to tell them they cant come. My husband and I already had our legal wedding last year and we are okay with just having ceremony in the church, but my in-laws really dead set on having wedding party with all our family members, which I dont think it's possible....I dont know what to do.

What do you think? Can you please share with me what are you planning to do? Are you postponing again? How many people are you going to invite?

Sincerely,

Anxious bride

Hi Martha! My wedding is in June in a Chicago surburb, and this is our second postponement. We are tentatively planning that we will be allowed to have 50 people in person based on the Phase 4 guidelines, although I would recommend checking with your church because I don't know what their exact capacity #s are in Phase 4 (ours is at a venue not a church).

We originally had guest list of 250 but are going to slash it down to 50 people. We will add more in at the last minute if for some reason Illinois let bigger groups gather by then (which I think is unlikely but possible). I plan on sending a "virtual ceremony" invitation to the people who originally got Save the Dates but who aren't making the cut for our 50-person in-person event. They will understand -- the pandemic is out of our control. So we will stream the ceremony on Zoom and they can be part of it that way,

We are moving forward and not willing to postpone again, but I think that's a personal decision. Wishing you the best as you figure out what to do!
