We were operating with a very small budget of $1,500 for 30 guests (28 attended). That included a one night honeymoon suite. I think my biggest piece of advice for budget brides is don't have something crappy just to have something. We took an extreme minimalist approach. Even though our church could have been decorated it wasn't in our budget, so we didn't do it.

Focus on what's important to you for the day. For us it was Family, Faith, Food, and Photos. I think where many brides go wrong is thinking that the canned "dinner and dancing" is the only way to celebrate your day with your loved ones. It's not. If it's not in your budget, you're going to stress out more about having those things than if you moved your attention elsewhere. Trust me when I tell you the day goes by so quickly! A lot of the things you stress over aren't even going to be noticed. And if they are, and people complain, well they probably don't deserve to be in your close circle anyway.

Most importantly remember that this is one day in a lifetime for you and your new husband. Focus on building a strong foundation for your marriage first and foremost. Going into debt for a party is going to do more damage to your relationship than good. Not being able to pay your bills the next month because you hired a DJ or just "had" to have specific flowers is not a good way to start your marriage. Do the pre-marital counseling, even if you don't think you need it. Foster relationships with other longer term married couples. Build your support system. And have fun! If it's not fun, what's the point?

See that's so crazy to me. I'm really a stickler about doing what I can afford to do and still pay my bills. If I can't do both I'm paying my bills first and foremost.
