In our backyard of our new house we were married on August 1st 2020! I wish I could relive the day over and over because it was absolutely perfect. It sprinkled in the early afternoon, held off for the ceremony, and sprinkled a little after pictures (thank goodness for tents!). I knew I would cry but I didn't expect my husband to cry as much as he did--that was a highlight! Unfortunately my brother and his fiance decided not to travel from out of state because of the risk level coming from the state they are in so they attended on zoom. My 95 year old grandpa and my husband's grandparents were able to attend, which was huge--we wanted all grandparents healthy and able to attend from the beginning. Because we could not have our full wedding party attend (about half live all over the country) we decided that our grandpas would be our witnesses so we surprised them with that honor.
My FIL was the ceremony photographer, and I had the photographer who did my boudoir photo shoot take the getting ready pics. I baked our wedding cake the night before (my grandma's recipe), my mom ordered most of the food from Finley's Grill & Smokehouse in Kalamazoo, and the flowers were done by Flowerfield Farmstead in Three Rivers. My hair and makeup were done by my best friend/MOH. My husband built the arch we used, my veil, hairpiece, and bracelet were all from amazon, and I bought my dress from stillwhite.com. My shoes were from MLB.com (GO CUBBIES!) and I carried my great-grandmother's kerchief that she carried on her wedding day.
About 15 people attended the ceremony and then we invited some friends over for a bonfire after party! Despite everything that had to change in the planning process it was the most perfect day and I am so grateful to be married to my husband. We are so thankful for everyone who helped the day be what it was--it would not have been possible without all of our family and friends! I am so glad we went ahead with our original wedding date. We're so excited to celebrate with our original guest list next year!
