Hi everyone!! Where are my Illinois brides?? Let’s be friends!! We were supposed to be 10/17/2020 in NYC, then we escaped New York and moved our wedding to 5/15/2021 in Illinois. We’re deciding by February if we’re postponing again, and the tentative new date is 8/8/2021. I don’t personally know...

I don’t personally know anyone else who is planning a wedding in Illinois currently, and my family and friends definitely don’t want to hear about/talk about my wedding anymore because of the pandemic. Wedding planning is very depressing and lonely right now.
It would be lovely to chat about planning, the latest restrictions, how we’re all feeling, etc!!

Last year we set the date for 5/1/21 and never looked back just prayed for a vaccine to come out. We have everything booked and invitations are going out. My venue holds 300 and I got them down to a minimum booking of 175 so we are at 60% capacity hoping to create a safe place for everyone, dancing included (with face masks of course)!

    Wish me luck, Brides! XO

This isn't possible, the phase clearly states 50 people indoor, and 100 people outdoor. What town is it in?

Currently outdoor weddings are limited to 50 people. Last summer 100 were allowed for outdoor weddings. The order was last updated a few weeks ago in mid February. Hoping it changes soon!

Did anyone hear the governor’s announcement yesterday? Did it clarify anything regarding weddings?

Yes, as of right now, in phase 4, you can have 50 indoors and 100 outdoors (lesser of number or 50% capacity for both). They added a “bridge phase” that will go into effect when 70% of people 65+ have had their first vaccine size. In that phase, indoor events of up to 250, outdoor events of up to 500, no capacity percentage. Also important to note there was some fine print “ Under a new rule, anyone with proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test within one to three days of an event or outing will not count toward capacity limits."

This is confusing to me because what If 40% of IL seniors 65+ don’t want the vaccine? Then we’ll be stuck at 60% vaccine rate?!

I agree BUT on Thursday when they announced the new guidelines, we were at 58% and they were predicting ~1% a day. As of last night, we were at 64% (up 6% in just a few days!). So as crazy and subjective as the guidelines are, they seem to at least be working in our favor for now 🤞

As a 7/11 bride (Wheeling, IL) who already had to postpone from last September, I’m here with you just praying that we meet the criteria! 😊

It doesn't appear that Chicago has changed their restrictions following Governor Pritzker's announcement. Any other Chicago brides trying to plan for May? Hoping for 100 outdoors but that is currently banned by the City of Chicago.

Thanks for checking, Lauren! I was confused as well when I read the guidelines but when I asked my venue they said 100 outdoors would be allowed for an outdoors ceremony without food or drink but not for a reception...these guidelines are so hard to interpret!
