Hi everyone!! Where are my Illinois brides?? Let’s be friends!! We were supposed to be 10/17/2020 in NYC, then we escaped New York and moved our wedding to 5/15/2021 in Illinois. We’re deciding by February if we’re postponing again, and the tentative new date is 8/8/2021. I don’t personally know...

I don’t personally know anyone else who is planning a wedding in Illinois currently, and my family and friends definitely don’t want to hear about/talk about my wedding anymore because of the pandemic. Wedding planning is very depressing and lonely right now.
It would be lovely to chat about planning, the latest restrictions, how we’re all feeling, etc!!

Yup! ☺️ We got married there on 9/6 on the patio (technically for the big ballroom but obviously it wasn’t in use that day). We were initially booked for the Devonshire room so kept that the same for our postponed date.Illinois Brides! Let’s be friends! 1

Same! They’re just sitting in a box in our room. Like you, things are just so unstable and I don’t want people to be like “don’t you know there’s a global pandemic?”

Illinois Bride - Original date was 6/6/2020 and have been engaged since Thanksgiving of 2018 so I had spent a long time planning the perfect wedding when the pandemic hit in March last year it was devastating working through the uncertainty. We moved our date to 5/28/2021 and 95% of our vendors transferred with us. We were originally supposed to be married at the Crystal Garden at Navy Pier with full fireworks display and then found out in August via Facebook (not even the venue) that Navy Pier was closing after Labor Day with no plans as to when they would reopen. We were told it was best to find a new venue. We considered eloping in December 2020 but couldn't find somewhere without too many restrictions and quarantines. I contacted over 100 locations in IL and Wisconsin before finding a Private Country Club that still had our 2nd 5/28/21 date available so we could keep our vendors and not have to lose any more money. We have chosen to pair down our guest list from 150 to less than 100 and all of my family (other than immediate) lives overseas in London and we are still not sure if they will be coming (including 2 of my bridesmaids). It has been a complete nightmare planning and I have lost all the joy of planning. I worry about my wedding dress, will I still like what I chose back in summer of 2019?? Will it fit? It has been at the tailors since March of 2020 since it was already being worked on and I haven't seen it since (I am just praying she still has it). Trying to find the excitement again is hard, especially when you feel like a broken record constantly talking about having to keep changing things. The only thing we do know is no matter what on 5/28/21 we will be getting married and having a wedding no matter the size restrictions, we are not going to wait any longer because of Covid.

I sometimes feel that people don’t understand that we don’t ignore the fact that there’s a global pandemic going on but we are also excited to be able to get married and do all the things brides do leading up to our wedding.

We live in Chicago but are getting married at a banquet hall in Rolling Meadows on 5.30.21. We kept saying we would wait until 2021 and see how things are going but now that we are here, we aren’t too confident. We are starting to think of backup plans. Our venue is fully indoors so we are looking into different venues with outdoor options and possibly just a ceremony. Maybe dinner as well. Mentally preparing for a 50 person or less wedding which is upsetting because we are supposed to have over 200. Guests keep asking for updates and feel like we need to make a decision on February or March. It’s been stressful not knowing!

It’s human nature to want to plan things and look forward to something happy and positive in the future! We should not be shamed for wanting to plan and experience the normal and very important life milestone of a wedding!!

We have our wedding scheduled for 1/1/22. But I will admit planning has not been as fun as people always say because who know what the world will be at that point! It’s been hard putting down down payments but I’m hoping and praying for the best!! I hope everything is better by the summer for you too! 🤞🏼

I’m a central Illinois bride, getting married on June 5th, 2021! It’s coming up fast and we’re proceeding in hopes that restrictions will be lessened by June. I’ve already been working with our venue on worst case scenarios. At this time our venue can more than accommodate our 100 guests. Unfortunately there are no guarantees with how things will play out, but we’re hoping for the best!

We were supposed to get married In IL 8/8/20 but had to move it to 5/1/21. At this point we waiting until February to make a decision. The Gov hasn’t said anything about reopening and probably won’t until two weeks after NYE to see if there is a surge.

Hello! So happy I'm not the only person feeling very stressed! My original date was 9/6/20 and we postponed to 5/30/21. And right now I don't think that will happen. However, we did legally marry on 9/3/20 at city hall. I'm just ready to get things going so we can move forward with our lives together!!

    Hi there!

Our wedding is still tentatively 5/8/21, but we are planning on moving it to 2022! I don’t even want to deal with anything pandemic-wise! And I don’t want to expose anyone at our wedding! We’re going to move it, and have our fingers crossed that our vendors can make it happen!
I have high hopes for you guys, and do whatever feels right!

We might go back to tier 2 mitigations next week!! JB announced it today! So gatherings will be up to 10 people. And the positivity rate went down today! Everything is terrible but IL is moving in the right direction!

Are you having your event in a hotel like a banquet hall? I currently live in ny and We have family coming to Chicago. I figured it was best for me to look into a hotel venue to eliminate transportation cost. Now with the pricing I’m starting to feel otherwise.
