How to chose a bridal shower theme

Whoever is hosting will choose the theme, but I'm sure you could give some input/ideas what you would like.

Typically the maid of honor would be the one to plan everything. Usually the only thing the bride is involved in with planning is providing a guest list. For my shower, my mom and SIL (co-hosts) asked if there was anything specific I wanted such as any special food/dessert or anything like that, but otherwise I wasn't involved at all. Your maid of honor should know you well enough to know what type of things you'd like.

Usually the one hosting picks the theme and plans everything, but every wedding is different, so I don't see the harm in you and the host coming up with ideas together!

My MOH is hosting our shower(s), and all she did was tell me the color scheme she was thinking of and if we were okay with it. We appreciate her keeping us in the loop!

I’m sure it largely depends on who is more opinionated about it. If there’s something specific you want or certain ideas you have you can tell your MOH of those wishes if they’re the one hosting.

I'm letting the hostesses take full control - though i did send them a picture of the most beautiful beer can ive ever seen and said "love these colors" so we'll see where it goes. Can for reference:

My mom hosted my bridal shower but she asked me for input on venues and theme because it was being held in the area I live in. I told her I would like something like a brunch theme or a tea party theme, and then I sent her some ideas for venues that coulda accommodate that type of menu. We had fun checking out a few places together but I left the final decision up to her, and from that point she took over the planning without me. So really, its up to you and the host, but its certainly ok to share some general ideas unless they specifically tell you to stay out of it.

If the maid of honor is planning and paying every penny for it, she decides. Otherwise, a small group who volunteer to be hostesses ( bridesmaids, friends not bridesmaids, family)
Have a meeting. They set a budget according to what they can pay. They decideon the nature of the shower, home ( far less expensive) or restaurant, or other space. They see how many they can afford at the price of their venue to do what they want. Then they all contribute. The bride is not involved.
