How much is to much?

Miosotys, on May 6, 2019 at 9:06 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 6
We are having an causal elopement party at our house when we get back. Married in Jan party in Feb. Few decorations lots of food, drinks and good time. My fiancé is so hooked on upgrading our grass. We have 4 dogs who like to dig to China and live in Florida where the grass grows sporadically. He seriously wants to spend 4K on laying sod down so the grass is nice for the party. Thoughts? I am a DIY freak so could make our backyard nice way under 4K but the patchy grass is just going to be what it is. What would think?

I guess it depends on your budget and your priorities. It seems like a little much if his only motivation is a party, but fortunately, that's one investment that would stick around long after the event and would be an upgrade for your home, not just decor. Long story short, I would do it if having a nice lawn is a big deal for you or something you'll continue to enjoy, but wouldn't do it only for the reception.

Yes I agree. I can see us doing it in a couple of years but not when we are trying to save money for our wedding. We are already in the middle of redoing our kitchen, and flooring in the house. So adding another 4K for sod is a little much. But didn’t know if people are really going to care about grass!

I'd think that laying sod would be a waste with pets and then having guests over to trample it. I'd almost wait until after to even try it.!

I like grass, so for me it's worth it regardless. But I'd only do it if you want to keep the sod after & stay up with it. You could also try seeding some areas & blocking it off since you have a little bit of time maybe?

There are options out there, where its like spray paint, but for grass, i believe that they are all animal friendly products used, and environmentally friendly but maybe check that out! that way its nice and green for pictures, but doesn't cost a fortune

A backyard party is a very nice idea if the point is not to spend 4k on it. You can make the investment on your home, but it sounds like you want to save on your reception. Could you be spending less for a similar experience at a restaurant's beer garden?
