Honeymoon Registries

Jamie, on June 25, 2019 at 8:35 PM Posted in Registry 0 11

Hi,

My FH and I are considering a honeymoon registry or a registry that will help us to pay for work on our home. If you are using or have used one of these types of registries which one did you go with and why? I have no idea where to start, so I'm just looking for as much info as I can get! Thanks Smiley smile

A couple friends of ours who just got married used Zola and we gave them a gift through their “dream fund.” We didn’t have any issues with the website functioning from the guest side, I don’t know about the registrant experience though.

Zola literally has a “home renovations” registry item that people can gift towards.

I’m using Zola for my website because I liked the registry already included. I also liked that you can create different cash funds that guests can gift to you. You can do either honeymoon or home renovations. I think most people recommend for a honeymoon fund breaking it into different experiences so your guests can gift you an experience instead of just one single generic fund. You could do this with a home renovation style as well and have guests gift you different parts of your renovation. I would say pick one style or the other and you’re probably not going to want to add a ton of physical gifts on your registry as well since people generally are drawn to tradition and will just give you physical gifts. Also like most sites, cash funds will have some sort of percentage for holding the money for you. It’s generally very small. Zola’s is 2.5% or $2.50 for every $100. Hopefully this helps.

I set one up on The Knot. Some of the other ones I looked at charged us a fee to receive the funds and The Knot one charged a very small fee of 2.5% to the person contributing to it in order to charge their card.

We have an Amazon registry with a lot of house upgrade items, we are renovating our entire home. It's a great registry, we can have tools, light fixtures, faucets, doorknobs, etc. They also have Lowe's gift cards.

We used zola for everything. I couldn’t be happier. Nobody is having problems and I get notifications and emails when someone sends us something and I can chose when something sends. Would definitely recommend.

Another Zola fan, here!! They also have one of the lowest transfer amounts out of all wedding websites and you can name your cash fund(s) anything you want while also giving guests an explanation as to why you want it and what you'll use the money for Smiley smile
