Honeymoon Fund with Specific Items

Annie , on January 30, 2020 at 8:13 PM Posted in Registry 0 3

Hi all,

My fiancé and I are planning to honeymoon at Disneyland. We are planning on paying for the majority of the stay itself (I feel that it would be a little strange for guests to contribute towards paying for a bedroom for a newly married couple), but want to set up a honeymoon fund for items like "Get us a Dole Whip to share in Adventureland" or things like that. We want to take pictures of us enjoying the experiences that the honeymoon fund gave us and send them in the thank you cards, as if we had received a tangible gift in person. Do you all have any tips on how to tactfully add this to a registry? We are also planning on having a physical registry for those who want to purchase a specific gift. Logistically, is this something that WeddingWire itself can support on its wedding websites/registry locations?

Thanks a million,

Annie

I agree with pp - I did that for my honeymoon fund. People are definitely more inclined to buy those experiences than giving to the fund in general.

Heads up--sites like Honeyfund all take a portion of what people give you for themselves. If people were to gift you $5.69 for that Dole Whip, you wouldn't be getting the full amount.

Additionally, a good portion of people see honeyfunds and cash funds as tacky. As cute as select Disneyland references might be, it may be better just to stick with a really small registry or no registry at all. People will likely give you cash then.
