Hilton honors name change

FutureStephD, on May 16, 2019 at 7:30 PM Posted in Married Life 0 12
Long shot here, but has anyone successfully updated their Hilton honors account after changing their last name? I have called, emailed and sent a message on FB without response. I would start over with a new account but I have 170K points and status I don’t want to lose. #firstworldproblems

I have not, but I do want to add that I feel your pain! I tried to contact them to merge two accounts and go no where. I literally called the person useless since he kept asking me to elaborate and I was like I am explaining very simply.

Right?! Have you made any reservations/ or stayed anywhere since changing your name? I have five reservations coming up over the next two months and I’m wondering if I’ll get points or worse, rejected when I try to check in.

Im still counting down to the wedding, but I've had issues with hhonors before. They screwed up my room block too, so I have no way of checking in on room block. I have to call the hotel and ask for updates 🤦‍♀️
If I were you, I'd bring a copy of my marriage certificate just to make sure you don't have issues checking in.

Ohhhh this one gets me right here. I have been fighting with them SINCE MY WEDDING IN OCTOBER to change my name! First they told me to do one thing, then another, then a whole new set of stuff. Ok fine, did it all. Well then we traveled for a friend's wedding and it didn't register in my account because they never bothered to change it. Blah blah blah, long story short here, what I ended up having to do was email them a copy of my updated drivers license AND marriage license/certificate/whatever you want to call it along with an email requesting that my name be changed. It took forever, and yes, it was a pain to get them to respond to things, but it did get done eventually (and for being so slow and screwing with my account for so long I ended up getting like 20k extra points as an "oops, we screwed up" reward.)

I don't think you'll have a problem with being rejected or checking in - but when you do, just explain to them what's going on. We had no problems checking in at all, and I wouldn't have noticed that anything was wrong if I didn't check my app. No points were showing up, the stay didn't show up, couldn't use the electronic key, etc. Went to the front desk, and they were the ones who told me to call customer service. But when in doubt, bring everything you have (or at least a copy) - license, marriage license, whatever.

    Good luck! Smiley smile

Thanks! I figured it would be a pain, but I do like the extra "oops" points 😅.

    So good to know! Thanks!

I FINALLY found someone to help me.... I think... here's what they said:

Hello, Stephanie. We are sorry for the troubles. Please email the request to us at ************@******.***, and include the following:

    • Hilton Honors Account Number

    • Current name on account

    • Name change request

    • Attach a copy of your driver’s license, utility bill, marriage license or other legal documentation. Please black out all unnecessary personal information

    Thank you

After they had all of that information, they managed to get my account updated - BUT they will not merge my account and my husband's account, so now we have two HHs accounts, which is stupid . . . but a different issue altogether

I just did mine this week and I did have to follow up with a few emails to get them to actually process it. They will not automatically change over your name on current reservations, you have to call back separately after they change your name on your honors account and have them do it for any current reservations.
