Help!!!bride from the south looking for a chicago area Venue

Jarlishuha, on June 17, 2019 at 1:35 PM Posted in Illinois Planning 0 18
HI everyone, i moved to Aurora,il 3 years ago and i am newly engaged, this whole thing is new to me, i dont know anyone who has ever had a wedding so my advice group is non existent...lol...... i finally set a budget and im shooting to stay under 5k, i am saving 6k just to be on the safeside (im paranoid by hidden fees and what not). does anyone know any venues where i can have my wedding and reception in the same location. anywhere in the chicago area is fine and suburbs are great as well. im from the south and im still new to illionis and would appercate you guys advice. also my wedding guest list is between 80-100 and no exact date is set yet im still in the pricing stage and only been engaged amonth. i do know that time of year and day of the week makes a differance so im taking all of that into consideration. ;-)

It’s gonna be really tough with that budget and that large of a guest list in a high cost of living area. I would look at fire halls, parks, and community centers where you can bring in your own catering from a restaurant.

As a Chicago (suburb) bride, I can definitely agree that a budget of that size with a guest list of that size will be ROUGH. For reference, we had our wedding at Drury Lane in Oak Brook (just a short drive from Aurora) and for about 180 guests, the venue (Food, liquor, tables, chairs, linens, etc) in itself was about 13k. I agree with Kelly that checking parks, community centers, VFW halls, etc may be your best bet, or else if you have the ability - consider going a little bit further away from Chicago - think Rockford, Machesney Park, etc.

Oooh I'm getting married at Drury Lane in October! Any words of advice? Things you wish you'd done differently?

But that is the price per person. So just that is your entire budget if you cut your guest list to 80 and you would have no money for a dress, photographer, DJ, transportation, hair and makeup, centerpieces and decorations etc.

Exactly. If you're talking about a 5-6k budget just for this then that's COMPLETELY different than having a 5-6k TOTAL budget. DIY is great, but it still has to be budgeted, and all of those other items need to be taken care of! Just make sure you're doing all the math, not just part Smiley smile

Aleks! Drury Lane is great! We had the best wedding - no complaints whatsoever. We used the Oak room instead of the Crystal room (the one in the back, more commonly used) and we loved every part! My only tip would be to take advantage of your event coordinator (we worked with Tammy B - she was great) - don't hesitate to ask questions, stop in and visit, etc. They may not respond immediately, but they will always get back to you and are SUPER helpful! Also, check the theater schedule - if your reception is happening at the same time as a theater production, warn your guests so they aren't freaking out over parking. There is plenty, but if you're competing with theater attendees it can be a little bit "...omg."

Omg your so right and it says 18% service fees and taxes not included........so I either cut people or widen the budget(which I doubt), I hate this...already stressed and its only been a month lol and thanks for yall advice........... I can have my wedding in Memphis and then I wouldn't have to worry about hair make-up bartender photographer or food (family and friends) but I feel it is unfair to my FH( being that he's the one who actually wants a wedding).

That is going to be a really tight budget for that guest count in this area. I wish I had some good venue suggestions!

But i can say, with any budget you need to decide what’s most important to you and your fiancé and prioritize. We cut on flowers so we could spend on alcohol and an awesome dj. Stuff like that. Once you know what you want your wedding to look like, you can allot the appropriate amount of money to each category.

I’m getting married at Dinolfos in Homer Glen. It was one of the best prices I could find. They don’t charge the 20% service fee that most places do. You might be able to squeeze them into your budget.

Your budget may be very hard to stick to. I am getting married in Bolingbrook a town or two over from Aurora. We budgeted 8500 as our ideal 10000 as the absolute max with any possible incidental things. We hope to be under 8500 and have a guest list of about 65 people only. I am doing as much diy as possible to save money as things are costly.

We are getting married at Four Rivers in Channahon, IL (near Joliet), which is about 30-45 minutes from Aurora. It is $2,500 for the ceremony and reception space all day, plus a bridal room. It can be cheaper if you use only one of their sites. The food/drinks are not included and they have a preferred list of caterers.

We are very happy with this venue, although our budget is just a bit more than yours. They can accommodate 125 people max I believe. I would definitely recommend county locations, local city sites, ect to save on costs. Hope you find/have found something that works for you!

There’s a place in forest park that can do about 70 people and you can bring in your own. Try Hawthorne’s backyard in Oswego for a larger crowd. No booze will save money. I like mine in Glen Ellyn -Reserve 22. It’s got options.

Hey there! I was similar to you, same location area looking for venues. I priced quite a few in Naperville, Aurora, etc. what I found is for that price is going to be tight, but if your able to get together a bit more I highly recommend The Seville. The staff is amazing to work with and are quite considerate when it comes to budget and telling you the truth upfront.
