Getting lingerie at bridal shower?

Yikes!! So part of my family does something similar, at every bridal shower I’ve been to there has been 1 piece of lingerie that the bride has received, and every time they’re 10 shades of red! Thankfully I’m super plus sized so I shouldn’t have that problem, but I would be mortified.

i would talk to your mom and just have an honest conversation with her. Maybe even compromise. Explain how extremely uncomfortable this makes you and if she presses maybe ask for a robe instead? So it’s the same department but not as personal? With the one person who already bought one for you maybe have your mom ask her to mail it or give it to you before the shower so you can open it and thank her privately?

I’ve never heard of getting lingerie at a bridal shower. I’ve been to several lingerie showers which were separate events and usually hosted at the bachelorette party.

When I was 9, my stepmom married my dad, I was invited to her shower and it was almost all lingerie. Of course I felt awkward being 9 and being the daughter, but if I were older and in a different role I wouldn't have thought anything.

This happens at every shower in my family too....and happened at mine. It’s usually the other female cousins who do it and it’s lingerie and other unmentionable embarrassing things in just one gift, not a full blown lingerie shower. (Which would make me want to die) Honestly I was mortified too but even my Catholic nana thought it was funny. People get it...you’re getting married. But also try talking to your mom.

I’ve seen people get lingerie at a bridal shower before. Not a lot of it, but often at least one person will gift that. It might be embarrassing, but everyone knows you wear underwear and everyone knows you’re going to be having sex with your spouse. You can just quickly move onto the next gift if this happens.

We have always done that the bridal shower is for gifts that are just for the bride (not just kitchen stuff), including lingerie, and the registry is gifts you can buy for the couple as a wedding gift.

I have seen this, and in fact, one of my favorite shower themes is "Around the Clock" where guests are given a time of the day or night and bring a gift that the bride could use at that time. Of course, a gift the bride could use at night is often lingerie so this is given at the shower.

I just had my shower yesterday.... and my future MIL I knew was getting me lingerie and other adult things... I was so worried about opening it in front of my family but when it came down to it. I opened it and everyone laughed and thought the lingerie was cute. I really was just worrying myself to much.

I would just have her tell them you are registered & where the registry is at.
