First Anniversary Ideas during Covid-19

Martha, on May 11, 2020 at 10:39 PM Posted in Married Life 1 11

So I know that July is still a little bit away but I like to plan ahead. However, I am finding it difficult to come up with something for my husband and I to do to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. I am having a difficult time getting excited to celebrate things for myself during this time and refused to let him do anything for me for my graduation this past weekend. He was so proud of me graduating with my master's and I insisted that we don't do anything because I didn't feel right celebrating my accomplishment when my family hasn't gotten together since mid-February due to COVID-19. I need some suggestions. I am so excited to celebrate our 1 year anniversary as my husband is everything to me and my best friend. If anyone has some suggestions for ideas that we can do I am all ears. I was thinking of cooking him a nice dinner (steak, seafood, something nice that is in stock at the grocery stores?) but I think that he deserves something nicer than just a dinner at home. I know that technically the 1st anniversary is the 'paper' anniversary and I don't know what to get him. I was thinking about getting a picture from our wedding printed and framed or a constellation of our first date, said yes, and said I do, but we live in such a small apartment that some of our shower gifts are unfortunately still in boxes or at one of our parents house.

This time has lead me to a lot of uncertainty and unfortunately working from home has given me waaaaaaaay too much time to get in my own head and over think this. If anyone can provide suggestions, share if they are going through the same thing, or ANYTHING (lol) I would greatly appreciate it. He is such a wonderful man and is still out there working as an essential employee and I just want to give him the world.

I hope that you and your families are well at this time Smiley heart

Cook him the steak, get the constellation poster. I know he’ll love it because I bought one for my husband. Maybe a glass of wine and candles and cuddling. There’s just not a lot anyone can do right now and no need for pressure but a romantic night in a will be wonderful.

My first year anniversary is in a months time or so and I got a gift for him recently! It was a Leather wallet and inside are the two lines of my vows I accidentally skipped out of nerves.

But for the actual day we said if things aren’t open fully by then, we can just get take out food from where we had our first date

Ours is in August, so I feel you on this.

Make each other dinner, maybe splurge and buy a new game or puzzle to do? Did you save your top tier of your cake? Oh, if you have video - watch it! Put on your first dance song and dance together.

You can also have a fancy day - dress up in your wedding clothes again! This is absolutely the time to get creative and silly.

I love your gift idea! I wish we got to write our own vows. The pastor said that wasn’t an option so we exchanged letters to each other before the ceremony and did a first touch. I’ll have to see if the restaurant where we had our first date is open! Thank you for your suggestion! ❤️

Ours in in September so we are having the what if plans as well for our anniversary. We still have time but if need be, we will probably order some take out, light some candles, pour some cheap wine and rent a movie, you know, make it extra special haha.

Depends on where you are from. I book a nice country cottage in the middle of nowhere with a private hot tub on the back patio for my fiance for our 1 yr dating anniversary. Covid was not a problem because there was only one other cottage occupied and it was at least 100 yards away

My Husband and I are in the same boat. Our Anniversary is June 8th. We were thinking weather permitting either doing an outdoor picnic order takeout or just cookout on the grill. We were originally supposed to go down the shore but I don't think it's going to happen due to COVID19 lockdown

We ordered a super nice charcuterie board. Bonus: we got to support my students' small business :-)

Oh, guys! I feel you on this! Since it's a paper wedding the gifts made of paper would work perfectly. I stumbled upon @miniyoudolls profile on Instagram while I was looking for something unique for my sister’s anniversary. The artist creates personalized movable paper dolls. And they really look alike!!! She also has a shop on Etsy. Here is the link to her shop Etsy Personalized Paper Dolls I literally recommend it to all my friends because by far it's my favorite gift I have ever given anyone. The attention to detail on individual features was excellent and the seller was so easy to deal with. I've also added it to the "wedding day survival box" I'm making for my guy on our wedding day. Hope it helpsSmiley heart
