Fall Outdoors... too cold?

Katie, on January 12, 2020 at 12:50 PM Posted in Ohio Planning 0 8
We’re trying to lock down a date for our fall wedding in Canton, OH. Is a semi outdoors wedding in October going to be too cold? Our venue is essentially a barn so no real climate control. Should we back it up to September? We just don’t want our guests to get cold as soon as the sun sets!

What’s the typical temperature there in October? Is the barn for the ceremony only and then the reception is elsewhere?

The only thing you could do is look up the average temperature for your date and area. But I would plan for "jacket weather" at least. I am in CT and October can be nice, but once the sun goes down its cold. You may have to rent heaters if the barn isn't equipped.

I would google the prior weather history and plan accordingly. You can give throw blankets as favors, "to have and to hold, in case you get cold"; I wish we picked a colder month so we could do this! I'd definitely budget for heaters, too!

I grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, and I can tell you that outside, in October, would require me to wear a winter coat, unless you are having an *extremely* warm fall. You could do heater things though, and that should help quite a lot.

I'm getting married in ohio on October 31st! I'm having options for indoor and outdoor depending on weather. Maybe look for venues that could give you options depending on the weather.

I live in Ohio. I’ve trick-or-treated in a parka and in short sleeves. It could go either way.

I went to a wedding in early October and it was 90 degrees out. But then went to another wedding at the end of October on the lake and it was rainy and 40 degrees.

If it is early October (1st-12th) usually it is still pretty warm, but anything after the 12th I would weary of temperature wise!
