Fake flowers for the cake?

mrsg, on February 4, 2017 at 4:12 PM Posted in Married Life 0 13

Hi, ladies!

Our baker suggested that we provide the flowers for our cake instead of paying $100 for sugar flowers. We need to drop them off 2 days before the wedding. I'm thinking that it's easier to provide artificial flowers instead of running around before the wedding trying to get all of this done. All our other flowers will be real, so I'm worried if this will look good? Here is our inspiration photo and I'll post photos of some flowers I've gotten at Michaels.

Some flowers I've picked up. I'd leave it to the baker which ones to use (wouldn't necessarily want all of these)

My baker provided fake flowers but i wish i had real ones. My florist just told me that i am able to add to the cake, i was bummed cuz i had the cake all set. If you want real flowers see what your florist can do

Tonee, I think the florist can add the real ones to our package, but I think it would be expensive to get something similar to these large peonies in September. Do you mind sharing a photo of your cake?

My florist provided ours for $15bucks, we dropped them off 24 hours before. Was very easy if that's an option for you!

Just order several extra flowers from your florist and ask them to decorate the cake when they get there. It literally takes five minutes.

    Brandy, that is GORGEOUS!!!

Thanks for the inputs, ladies. I think I'll take your advice and call my florist. If she can decorate on site, I'm sold!

I think most florists just add the flowers to the cake the day of. That's what mine is doing. I'm not a fan of fake flowers period. Ask your florist if this is something they can do. If not, I'd personally choose to bite the bullet and pay the gumpaste flowers, or run around 2 days before the wedding.

I think the flowers from Michaels look fine. You might want to look at crepe paper flowers on Etsy, too, they might hold your design better.

Ours asked up to provide the flowers too. We're still deciding whether we want artificial or real flowers
