Engagement Vacation!

Hey folks!!

Has anyone planned an engagement celebration vacation? I found round trip flights to NOLA from Denver for super cheap about two months ago, texted FH and said "hope you wanna go to New Orleans!" lol. So I have been obsessing over what we will be doing, places we will stay, what to eat. Right now I have everything booked and mostly paid for, we are so excited! We both love history and food, this has been my dream place since high school! Since our wedding isn't until Sep 2022, I figured I would plan this instead of planning too much ahead for the wedding (I was definitely a vacation or wedding planner in a past life haha). Smiley smile


Has anyone else planned a celebration trip? Where are you going and what are you most excited about?

We are celebrating our engagement, 2 year anniversary, birthdays coming up (we celebrate a birthday week together!), and his graduation/accreditation from farrier school! Smiley smile

Any must do's in NOLA? I feel like I found A LOT to do/eat but what if I missed something super fun?! LOL!

    That's awesome! NOLA is on my bucket list entirely for the food scene so your trip sounds like it would be right up my alley haha. My husband and I got engaged while we were on vacation in Jamaica so we didn't do a separate trip to celebrate. This is such a good idea though! And a great way to enjoy being engaged before all of the planning starts. I hope you guys have the best time!

    Yes, we are so excited for this trip. We couldn't pass it up!! We both love food so our budget is pretty big for food and drinks lol. He wants to "repropose" to me on this trip... let's just say he came into the house ready to propose one night, down on one knee, then he figured out I was using the bathroom, so he proposed while I was walking out the bathroom door. It is a pretty funny story lol, don't think we can top that Smiley smile Thank you so much, we are so excited to celebrate this awesome time!

    - French Market, Jackson Square, St Louis Cathedral, French Quarter, Garden District (homes, cemetery)

    - Bourbon House, Cafe du Monde, Napoleon House

    - Pat O'Brien's (home of the original hurricane)

    I'm sure there are other places I'm not thinking of, but we were close to NOLA for a long time, so we went a lot of places. We got engaged in Jackson Square

    I would avoid the zoo - it's small and the animals are pretty confined

    Sorta! I just graduated with my bachelors and FH’s birthday was earlier this month. We got engaged in April. My mom paid for a week long trip to Disney World for us for my graduation but we’re going to be celebrating our engagement and his birthday too. Our wedding is in March of 2023.

    We actually got engaged the day before we were planning on going on vacation so it was super awesome and ended up as a celebration trip.
    Highly recommend!
    Look up free walking tours or free tours by foot in NOLA, they’re free walking tours and you just tip the guide afterwards, whatever amount you want! It’s awesome and super informative.

    Yay! Glad I didn’t get zoo tickets. Most of these things are on my list so I must’ve done an ok job! Lol. I don’t have Napoleon house, I will have to check that out! Thank you 🥰

    That sounds like our trip lol, we got engaged in March I think? I should probably memorize the day, we set our anniversary to the first day of June because we would forget otherwise lol. Our trip is June 10-14 and we are celebrating our bdays (July 9&16), graduation for FH, 2 yr anniversary, and engagement. FH and I wanted to do Disney world too. Have so much fun on your trip!! ❤️
