Engagement Shoot

Jasmin, on December 9, 2020 at 3:23 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 11
Hi!
So my engagement shoot is next weekend on a Sunday, I’m debating whether to include my dogs or not. Has anyone included their dogs? How was it? I’m worried about it being too stressful and being distracted on the shoot.
Thank you!

We took our dog, but also brought someone to hold onto him while we were taking photos he wasn’t in. It wasn’t bad for us at all.

    Hi Jasmin!

We asked our photographer if she would mind taking some of us with our dog, and she actually offered a second session with us with him for free! We most likely won't get pictures done with him again, or if we do...we'll be better prepared😂

Our dog isn't a huge fan of pictures, and turns his head almost as soon as you pull a phone or camera out. So there was a lot of "Korver!! Look here Korver!! I have treats buddy!", being yelled throughout our session. It was a blast and super fun with a lot of laughs AND we got some great photos with him. But it was a lot trying to get him to sit still, look at the camera, not whine or get distracted.

If your furbaby is well mannered and can focus during the shoot, then you'll have no problem! But if not, just be prepared for a lot of work trying to get them to hold still and focus. Here's some photos from our shoot!

We just did our engagement session and had our pup involved! As others said, we brought along our pup’s favorite auntie to assist when she wasn’t involved and when the photographer needed her attention. I’m really glad we included her and our photographer got some great shots of her! I’d suggest bringing toys and some treats, my dog loves squeakers so that really helped get her attention.

I’ve seen them a lot on engagement photos. Honestly, I wouldn’t put the fur babies in. They tend to steal the show. I’m instantly drawn to the animal & not the couple.

We had our dog in it, but we brought someone along to take care of him while we took other photos. At the end it turned out to be too hot for him so he was taken home after half hour and we finished our photoshoot. This was the turn out and we loved it! Engagement Shoot 8

We did half of our pictures on our own and then swung by our apartment, swapped into more casual clothes, and picked up our dog. Depending on your location and time frame maybe you can do something similar? We loved having our dog included in some of our pictures but didn't want the stress of having to worry about him when we were just doing couples shots. I love the pictures with signs and rings on dogs noses but that is so NOT our pup - we were just happy to get some smiling family shots. Make sure your photographer is on board, dog friendly, and pack some treats for her pocket!

We had our dogs for wedding photos. We had my parents close by to take them when needed.

We used our dog at our engagement shoot, and those were some of our favorite pics. My MIL came along to take care of the dog while we were doing other photos. Agree with the poster who said to discuss it beforehand with your photographer. Engagement Shoot 13

We had the dog in 2 pictures. Like others said, it’s best to bring someone to watch the dog and play while you are taking pictures. We wanted to include him in a few but we really wanted to focus on us. I enjoyed taking pictures more without the dog.

I think you should totally do it. We did a shoot with our dog and she acted like a complete baby; she was all over the place but she did sit well for some of the pics lol. Have some treats on hand or maybe get them running early before the shoot so they get a little tired. They also don't have to be in ever shot. Start out with you guys first then bring them in.
