I think the maxi coral dress sounds cute. But I think I'd always want to know what kind of vibe you're going for and where you're taking the pics at. Let's say if you're doing it at the beach then something like a summer dress would be cute for it, etc.

I’d say it also depends on your location. For example, I wore a white dress and a flower crown in mine because we took them in a red and brown desert. I wanted to make sure we stood out against the brown. I would say make sure your colors don’t clash with the background. I love the maxi dress idea! Just keep the colors and location in mind! You can even do a theme if you wanted one for the photos. For instance, I went with a boho look. Hope you have fun!

All of the photographers I spoke with about engagement sessions suggested bringing two outfits, so I’d opt for a dress as one and jeans and a nice shirt as the other. You can create two different vibes for the pictures this way. Just beware the first pictures of the session tend to look awkward if you aren’t used to posing, so don’t wear your favorite outfit first that way you’re more likely to get several good shots in that outfit. I am struggling with this too! We are taking them this up coming Saturday and I finally settled on a nice green blouse from anthropology and I’m hoping maybe I can find some jeans or cute pants I like to go with it.

The decision to make on photos lol. 😫. I feel like it's back in the day when you went to take school pictures. I am excited and nervous lol. Want to look natural

Look at the venue and get inspiration there. Also think about the vibe & your photographer's style. Sometimes a photographer shoots more "dark" photos so wearing a dark color wouldn't look that great. Also think about what will make your eyes pop. I knew we were getting ours done on a glacier which is very blue so I wore more muted color clothing because it would make my eyes pop on their own. Also think about logistics. Will you actually have a place to change? Shoes? Will it be muddy, snowy, or super hot? We had to wear spikes on our shoes and mittens most of the time because it was cold. So just think about all of the technicalities first, THEN decide.

Definitely talk to your photographer about where they're going to shoot, and what they might recommend. We did first outfits of a navy lacey dress for me and a light blue button down and grey slacks for him while we were downtown (lots of different backgrounds including brick and some industrial areas), and then switched to a maroon sweater and jeans for me and a grey quarter zip sweater and khakis for him while we were in the woods with tons of greenery around us.
