Engagement photos, yes or no?

Jasmine, on July 6, 2020 at 12:03 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 13
My fiancé and I have been engaged since May and as of right now are planning to get married on 10/22/2020. I had some medical issues in the beginning of June so we did not do any wedding planning for some time which has slowed us down a little considering our short engagement. Now that we’re back in the swing of things I really want to have engagement photos taken but my fiancé doesn’t see the point since we will have wedding photos done in 3 months which is fair, and would be another expense. Our wedding photographer is included in our wedding ceremony/reception package. I really would like to have nice professional non-formal pictures of us. Would you have engagement photos taken with such a short timeline?

I think that would be cute ! You could display the photos at the wedding too.

I think you should take the pictures! My fiance and I took our engagement photos 7 weeks before we were supposed to get married (we later had to postpone our wedding due to COVID, but at the time we took the photos, we were still planning on our wedding). It's not too late to take the pictures, they're a lot of fun to do and awesome to look back at!

Absolutely! There’s so many things that engagement photos can come in handy with. Even if you don’t use them at all for your engagement stuff i.e. save the dates and things like that, you could use them for your thank you cards. You could also use them for holiday cards that you can make on minted. Plus, how often do you get the time to take professional photos with your SO right

Yes you should! We’re getting married in December and getting ours done in August. I also heard that people recommend engagement photos so that you can be more comfortable in front of the photographer before the big day

We had ours done three months before our august wedding because COVID had us reschedule them from May. Plus, they were included in the package I bought and it was not cheap lol.

Our entire engagement was only six months and we did engagement pictures. We wanted to be able to work with our photographer before the wedding and we got some fantastic pictures of us out of it as well, which was nice, since they were our first professional pictures together.

Yes! If you want them done even though it’s a short engagement, you should get them done. If you’re using the same photographer for the wedding, it will be a great time to get familiar with the photographer and how well they work with your personalities. My husband is very camera awkward so it was nice to get our engagement shoot with the same photographer because it made him comfortable for the wedding photos. Most photographers include the engagement session in the wedding package for this reason. Plus you might have to wait until December to get your wedding photos edited so this will be a great placeholder for memories until you receive them. Good luck whatever you decide!

I would take the engagement photos. It will give you a chance to work with your photographer before your wedding day. The photos can be used at your wedding, etc and you would have professional photos of the two of you as a couple before you got married.

We were supposed to be married in June and there wasn't any time for us to really get engagement photos. I think engagement photos are so different because they're more of a way to show your personality and interests compared to wedding photos which for the most part are posed and *nicer*. Since we've postponed we are going to get them done...even though it'll e about 3 years into our engagement at that point

I would still take them. Even if you don't consider them engagment photos, it would still be nice to have professional (non wrdding) photos of you two around the house.
