I dont know if I should have an engagement party or if it's not really something that's worth it. I've heard alot of mixed signals about them saying it's just a glorified bridal shower.

Engagement parties used to be a huge thing but they’re not anymore. It’s up to you if you want to have one or not

We just had a party with our wedding party (to ask them to be in the wedding) that doubled as an engagement party.

Our mothers threw us an engagement party a few months ago at my parents’ house. It was definitely not a necessity but it was something they wanted to do and it was a really sweet gesture from them. It was also a great opportunity for both sets of families to get together at once, as well as to meet our bridal party.

We didn't have one, no one offered to host one. Typically it's hosted and the bride & groom don't host it themselves.
