Engagement party, kids

Gina, on July 11, 2019 at 8:25 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 5

My mom wants to throw us an engagement party at the house, it's more casual, backyard pool party so she wants kids invited too....our wedding however will be adults only, is it still ok to invite the kids to the engagement party if they aren't invited to the wedding?

Personally I don't see a problem if you're okay with a more casual party.

I agree - I think giving the kids a chance to come and celebrate and have fun even though they're not coming to the wedding is totally ok.

The Engagement party can be any type, let the kids come and have fun. It's a casual backyard event, and not equated to the wedding, except that it is to celebrate the Engagement.

Thanks everyone! I was worried etiquette- wise and didn't want to upset anyone!

If they are young kids, they probably won’t even know the difference or complain that they are not invited to the actual wedding. Teens as well would probably be thankful. My cousin was visibly bored at my sister’s wedding bc he was the only “kid” there, and he was 14.
