Please don't feel like an elopement has to be a compromise! This day was everything we wanted it to be! My stepdaughter was the only guest, and we felt no pressure to please a bunch of people, or spend more more than we were comfortable with (grand total came in just under $7k). It was stress-free and we enjoyed the small moments together all day!

There are so many ways to save money and not have your ceremony look or feel tacky.

If anyone has any questions, I'm happy to answer them!

Rough outline of our photos: getting ready, first look father/daughter, first look couple, ceremony with surprise vows to step daughter, sand ceremony, "just married", cake cutting (step daughter and I baked it), and beach photos with champagne and sparklers

Thank you! I wanted her to know that marrying her dad meant much more than just the mushy stuff and that the dynamic with her dad won't change because I'm in the picture. I was a little surprised by the tears; I was expecting an eye roll! Lol.

This is absolutely so adorable! Did you rent an AirBnB for your elopement? I'm a bit curious about your cost break down (but definitely don't feel obligated to elaborate).

We spent about $6-7k on our wedding before having to cancel/postpone due to Covid and eloping instead. Most of that (about $5k) went to deposits that have just been pushed forward to a new date. I think we could have eloped for maybe $3k but we still have all of the deposits going towards a bigger event next year and I kind of want to have it and also kind of wish we had never planned it to begin with.

Thank you! We found a place on VRBO that had a 14 day cancellation policy, which seemed like the safest bet with all the COVID uncertainty (most places are 60 day cancellation with full refund).

Our rough break down on cost was $1600 for venue, $2600 for photography, attire for the 3 of us $650, officiant $300, topper and homemade cake $50, custom invitation and gift for step daughter $45, faux flower bouquet/floral crown/boutonniere $110, DIY veil $50, and then for photo props/new makeup/misc. costs I probably overlooked I budgeted around $800...and that includes the money we lost after rescheduling the location (it would have been out of state) and losing the money we put down on the first photographer.

I can imagine how mentally draining it must be to deal with rescheduling with all the unknowns!

The photos are great and you look like such a cool family! My fiancé and I are also eloping with only one guest and we are worried about how we’ll fill the rest of the afternoon (4 pm ceremony and only an hour with the photographer). Did you have specific plans like dinner or anything after you finished up?
