What registry items annoy you?

AllieB25, on April 10, 2018 at 6:24 PM Posted in Registry 0 58

Excluding honeyfunds, is there anything that someone could register for that would make you roll your eyes? I'm really curious about what everyone sees as a no-go as far as registries are concerned. Is everything fair game, or do you have some hard limits?

My brothers registry has garbage bags and k cups on it and I kind of rolled my eyes... I feel like anything disposable should be a no go. But on the other hand I think I have a swifter wet jet and box of refill pads on ours so I shouldn't be one to talk.

There hasn’t been anything that I’ve seen that would be a no go. Also it’s your registry add what you want. It’s not like they HAVE to buy it

It depends on your family and friends. My no go’s are huge appliances and daily grocery type items.

I won't buy decor items that I don't like. It may even encourage me to go off registry. "Oh, a framed black and white poster of babies kissing. I think you've just earned yourself a big framed mirror. Because you need to look the person who made that decision in the eye."

I saw someone who put car parts...to me that was a bit of a stretch. LOL No one wants to buy you a new exhaust system for your car...Smiley tongue

China. We are way past this. I mean people can still buy it but I hardly think people care if you have nice dishes only used for special occassions. .

I was THIS close to adding some K-cups to ours after the Keurig, but I decided against it. The 15% post-wedding discount has me tempted to add all sorts of things Smiley xd

Still doesn’t mean I think it’s a good registry gift. I think it’s dumb. Regular dishes work fine.

I had someone register for the entire Simpson series dvds. Nope. I buy things they will have for what I hope is their long life and marriage. The sheets and towels kind of gross me out, but I get the traditon of them.

    $300+ vases.

China. I don't mind-I registered for and paid for a lot of it on my own. I love my China. It's beautiful.

Money. I'm totally turned off wen people register for money or gift cards.

I host parties all the time and our china gets used at least once a month. I hope nobody side-eyed the dishes on our registry, especially since everyone we invited is also invited to parties at our place on the regular.

I decided long ago that it wasn't my place to judge what others like as long as those interests don't hurt anyone. I keep that in mind when buying off of a registry. Otherwise, I might be tempted to roll my eyes since everyone likes different things.

One registry for a friend had an iPad (like a $800 one) and I was kind of like, yeahhhhhh who is going to buy that? That's a bit much for an electronic that is going to be "last season" in like, a year or so. Kinda crazy. Hopefully it was just on there for the completion discount!
