Bach party/bridal shower

Allison, on February 20, 2018 at 9:19 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 5
Hey ladies!
i am getting married in PA 4/6/2019. I live in Vermont with my fiancé and my bridal party is all over (Florida, Maryland and PA.) I’m trying to figure out my time line for bridal shower and bachelorette party. How far out should I plan those?

thanks!

Typically the MoH plans those events for you with getting date ideas from yourself and other bridal party members. Since everyone is spread out, it wouldn't hurt to combine those events a few weeks (or months) before the wedding. Make it a weekend thing where everyone can meet one another if they don't already know each other.

Typically these events are withing 2-3 months of the wedding, but you shouldn't plan them at all. Either your mom or your MOH/bridesmaids will offer to throw a shower for you, or they won't, and you don't have one. Same with a bachelorette. If no one offers to host one for you, you don't host your own.

My wedding is July 27, 2018. My mom and bridal party started planning my shower in Jan 2018 and booked it for April 29th (3 months before the wedding) because May and June are normally hectic months with graduations, mothers day, fathers day, etc. My MOH booked my bachlorette party last week for June 8-10 (7 weeks before the wedding). We chose to have the bachlorette in Maryland because it's 3-4 hours away from everyone in the bridal party so one person doesn't have to travel 6 hours while someone else only travels 30 mins.

I wouldn't start discussing these events with your bridal party until this September. It's a little early for them to be involved in planning those events, and you're likely to have more people cancel last minute if they plan too far ahead. Everyone thinks they're free a year from now, but as things get closer they could realize they have something going on.

My wedding is 1/19/19 and 4 out of my 7 bridesmaids are out of state and only 2 live in the same general city as I do.

I gave my MOH (older sister) a general idea of what I wanted to do for my bachelorette and we have already set a date for a weekend in October. One of my BMs is in Hawaii so she needs a lot of time to make sure she can get the best deals on flights. We started planning the Bach in December right after I got engaged and just settled on an exact weekend this past week.

As for showers - you can really have them whenever. Closer to the wedding is more fun because you and all your guests are more excited for your big day. However, since we are getting married in early January, the time you would usually throw a shower is right in the middle of all the Holidays - plus we have 3 friends getting married in December so we have to do things way earlier. We are very blessed to have a plethora of people wanting to throw us showers so we are having 3 Smiley surprise One for family, one for friends, and one in my hometown so that my older relatives that can not travel to the wedding will be able to attend something wedding related. The family one is in June, the friend one will likely be in early November, and I am not sure when the one in my hometown will be.

I had to help plan the weekend of my bach/bridal because an out of state bridesmaid, we picked memorial day weekend so she could attend ( she will come on Friday and leave Monday) or wedding is 6/17 and the bachelorette is 5/26 and shower is 5/27
