Dewey Beach, Delaware Bachelorette Party

Leanne, on October 2, 2017 at 8:09 PM Posted in Delaware Planning 0 20

I am the MOH throwing a bachelorette party in Dewey Beach, Delaware next summer. We have not decided on any specific dates yet, but it will most likely be in July or August. I have been searching for a house to rent for 15 girls. We are looking to do a Friday - Sunday rental. I am having a really hard time finding a place that will rent to us for only a weekend during the summer months. I have only briefly looked into hotels -- I feel like having us all together in a house would be more fun, and I found that the hotels were a bit more on the expensive side. Does anyone have any experience with this location / any advice for what I can do for a place to stay? Thanks so much!

I dont have any experience in that area at all. Are you using Airbnb or home away?

Also try extended stay hotels like the residence inn. I know we always stay in a residence inn whenever we take trips like that. It's about $300 a night but we get 2 bedrooms 2 bath a small living space and kitchenette. Plus the sofa is a sleeper. So it's sleep 6 comfortably. So that's about $100 per person.

I love the idea of all her girls being together in one house though so i hope it does workout for you guys.

P.S. if you are getting married in July, shoot for august. Later August. ;-)

I was going to suggest home away, too.

I've gone to Dewey several times for bachelorette and we've always rented a house through airbnb! A house is definitely the way to go and it's cheaper!

Are you set on Dewey? You might have an easier time finding one in Rehoboth.

Either place will be in full summer rentals. Hotels are pricey. Are you set for that area only? We live about 90 minutes west of there. Let me ask a couple friends. We go down a lot in the summer.

I have family that lives in rehoboth so we go into Dewey a lot. From what I know shits way overpriced to stay in Dewey.

Not sure how you feel about OCMD but we had my cousins bachelorette there 2 years ago and we rented a house for a Thursday-Sunday for 15 girls and it was $75 per person for the whole weekend (first weekend in June) and it slept all 15 girls. No need for pull outs or air mattresses.

Or even try fenwick or Bethany. Can always uber into town and prices might be cheaper.

I live in Sussex County DE, so know our beach towns. Dewey is certainly party central. But there aren't a whole lot of properties that can accommodate 15 people comfortably. Have you thought about Bethany Beach, a bit farther south? Yes, Bethany is the quiet resort, but its chock-a-block full of super large houses. You might consider renting a limo or party bus for your nights out, or even having the party night(s) at the house.

And if you're willing to come in May or Sept, or even June, you might find owners willing to do the weekend rental. July and Aug are the prime rental months, so owners want to get full weeks out of their properties.

We're in Bethany right now and for a weekend that's outrageous nd so many people. Also- Rehoboth is so expensive. If you come in the off season it'll be easier and not as expensive

I would caution on going down in June due to senior week. You won't have as many seniors in Dewey or Rehoboth, but OC will be teeming with seniors. Also, after Labor day schools will be back so that may help too.

Rehoboth is possibly gonna be your best bet, my fiance and I go stay with his grandparents every summer around that time and Rehoboth seems to have houses out for rental all the time and its not very far from the main strip of OC

Try http://www.jacklingo.com/ Local realtor that also does rentals. There are a couple of other realtors in the area that do this as well.

You might have better luck going a little further out of the main areas. Try looking in Lewes/Milton/Dagsboro/Ocean View

Would also recommend Rehoboth. Its such a cool little town and a hop skip and a jump from Dewey.

As far as finding a house in the summer, most tend to restrict their rentals to full week rentals. The only time I see this change is if you're getting one last minute cause they didn't book. Hotels, even the old beachy motels, are also gonna be pricey. We stayed in Rehoboth in April and it was cheap, like $125 a night, for a little motel a couple blocks from the beach. That same motel in July was $315 a night. It's not gonna be cheap unless you get very, very lucky.

I had my bachelorette in Dewey in August! It was awesome and none of us had ever been there before but were going on recommendations of my neighbors who go annually. We rented a house from Thursday to Sunday on VRBO. I am not sure the cost but I think about $1,000 for three nights and it had three bedrooms, enough beds for 6 people. It was about 1/2 to 3/4 mile from the downtown area and beaches but not a bad walk. They also have pedicabs for the end of the night.

My favorite part of the trip was the first night when they surprised me with a booze cruise sunset pedal boat. My second fav was Dogfish Head Brewery which was about a 30min drive.

This is a must but book early!

We stay in rehoboth beach de every year which isn't far from Dewey but I know since those months are prime time for vacation rentals alot of places require at least a week, a hotel will probably be your best bet, unless you're willing to change the date?

Try VRBO or Home Away (or AirBnB), although renting for just a weekend in summer can be tricky since most prefer to do week-long rentals. If you can go Labor Day weekend or into September it might be easier to find weekend rentals and the weather is still nice.

It only sleeps 12, but we loved staying at this house. Right on the beach: https://www.vrbo.com/7114744ha

Also, if you're flexible on the location can also try looking into Cape May, NJ. That's where my friends took me and it was great, lots of big houses

Try staying outside of summer. But I love Bethany but Dewey has no fucking bathrooms! Ahhh! And a thousand dollars for three days is so expensive. But ocean city md is definitely going to be cheaper.
